Can you take a photo of which direction the winch is facing? Which direction along the wall I guess

Here is where it sits. In this pic, I do not have cables hooked up.

Thanks for all the details Don.

I see you have the vinyl diamond plate tread flooring. Does that get very slick when wet? I know the coin style is easier to clean but pretty slick on the ramp when wet.

Thanks.

May I suggest a jamb nut on the turnbuckle or
at least carter-pin and tape them.

I'll second the jam nut suggestion. That and a drop of loctite or the Spouse's
nail polish would work as well to keep the jam nuts from walking out.

I will install some jam nuts on the turnbuckles. Thanks for the tip. The swage connections on the cable terminations all have jam nuts standard.

I keep loctite in my tool box. Was tired of buying nuts and bolts for my dirtbike that always seem to loosen up and back out. Seems the lock washers just are no good over time and do not keep enough prevailing torque on the nuts like they should.

I love this flooring, but the drop gate does get slicker than I care for with wet tires on the Victory Kingpin especially on steeper gate inclines. The dirtbikes aren't so bad with the knobbies and being much lighter.

McDave, thanks for the feedback on YouTube about the limit switches. Runaway in the up direction could really do some damage. Down, not so much, but still not good and easy to include in circuit. Runaway could happen if the remote sticks or etc..

You think 2 of these Normally closed in series with the Winch 12vdc line would work? Either too high or too low would interrupt 12vdc to winch and stop. I'd just need to figure out how to mount. I'd also need to install an momentary override switch so if I do actuate one, I can put power back on to move back in either direction and deactuate switch. Thoughts?

I could install all of this neatly on the back rail nearest the winch with minimal wiring I think. Also, if these switches (15A) will not handle the total winch current, I could use them to trip the control leg on a NC relay which can handle the current. The switches shown are momentary which is what would be needed for this application. Harbor Freight doesn't state current specification of winch, but if I turn everything off in the CTC and just move the bed, my battery monitor should read total current.

flboy, Howdy;

Don, generally 1 switch in each direction is what was used in the aircraft that I've
worked on. An adjustable mounting bracket for fine tuning was always incorporated.
Just a small tab that 'trips' the switch is all it takes. Either the switch or the tab
can be mounted on a slotted piece of angle to do that. Can also be what you use for
a 'disconnect' to return current to the system for reversing. Just some random thoughts.
Or, you can figure out something electrical, not my bailiwick.

Let's try this again. My earlier post disappeared when I hit submit. IDK.

Yeah, that's what I had in mind. Maybe some sort of "beads" or similar clamped to the cable to trip the switches. I'm not familiar with the winch and remote system, but I'd guess relay(s)and a receiver. Reverse polarity to change direction etc. So if using switch as "monitor" during normal ops should be able to move opposite direction only until cable trigger clears tripped switch. Opens circuit to relay or from relay to motor in that direction. If using as safety switch, either switch would cut power to winch. Then an override circuit would be required to move cable trigger off switch. I hope that made sense.? :NC
Hopefully I didn't just open a can of worms for you. You just made this whole thing look way too easy. Can't have that..... kidding ;)
So, I may have lost track here, did you get the sliders for the TV bed installed? I'll go back and check out what I may have missed.
Are you on "wuhan vacation" now? Looks like you dodged a bullet with some of your recent travels. Timing is everything ... :D
Take of the Mrs. I'm sure she will be working a lot during this time.

Thanks McDave... looks like about what I had in mind. I am finishing the TV slide this weekend, I was waiting on hardware and it came while I was in the middle of the CTC Bed Lift mod.

I did dodge a bullet... I was in China and through some big cities there in late October/early November just about the time this was unknowingly kicking off there. I was eating all the strange food as I am adventurous that way.

I am still at work. We have not shut down the factory yet... My wife (RN) and daughter (Nurse Practitioner) are both at a higher risk as they are in the middle of this at the hospital. They are the heroes in all this putting it on the line every day and risking their own health.. and mine I suppose. My wife gets it, I am sure to since we are roommates.

I hope all is well in Mt. I'll post some pics of the slider when done this weekend.

Not Bat Soup. Tell me you did not eat Bat F***ing Soup! Even I would not eat Bat F***ing Soup, and I do all kinds of stupid crazy stuff. But never Bat Soup. WTF is wrong with people, I mean Bat Soup? What happened to common sense and that voice inside you that says "Don't eat Bats, it's bad for you. MMM kay?" Do I actually have to tell people "Don't eat Bats"? Shaking my head so hard I keep falling down. Bat Soup....

LOL... no Bat Soup that I am aware of, but I have learned one thing when traveling in Asia and some places in South America. If you like it, do not ask what it is. :o :o

McDave... I think I got this limit switch figured out. Going to use magnetic alarm contacts (type used on windows) to complete a ground path to activate a NC relay to interrupt power to Winch. The magnet will be on the bed as it comes up and there will be the relay at the right spot on the strut channel. I actually have a bunch of the alarm contacts already from when I had the lighting strike on my house and needed to replace them all. Going to try that solution first to see how it works.
