120v Circuit breaker question

Postby prnaveen » Tue May 30, 2017 1:30 pm

Hello, hope someone can help me with this

I am converting a 6x12 cargo trailer and have planned for having both 12v and 120v connections.

I have the 12v connection covered. I bought a 12v fuse block from amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P6FTHC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The wires to all the lights, vent fan and water pump will be going through the fuse block

Below are the questions I have:
1. I already bought a separate inverter and charge converter. What kind of circuit breaker should i get for 120v (30 amp input)? Should it be something like this -
https://www.amazon.com/Square-Schneider-Electric-HOM816M100PC-16-Circuit/dp/B00NO9FJNW/ref=sr_1_2?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1495475704&sr=1-2&keywords=main+Breaker+Load+Center

2. I would be connecting the wires to 2 separate receptacles - which will be used for instant pot, toaster, microwave etc. So, I think I should have a 30 amp fuse on the circuit breaker for the wire coming from the shore connection. And 2 15 amp fuses connecting to the 2 wires going to the receptacle.

Thanks in advance!

You can get something much smaller and adequate panel from Home depot. You can connect it up with a 30A Main and then just get a tandem 15A breaker (20A if you use 12GA wires) to set next to it for the two circuits you need. That will work fine and take up less space. No room for expansion however..

Make sure you feed the 15A breakers properly from the 30A breaker so it acts as the main. Not hard, but not the standard configuration for the wires in the breaker box. Get someone local to help you configure it if you are not sure how to do it or what I am talking about... I don't want you to mess that up and/or hurt yourself.
