2017 6x12 Pace Journey SE. In MInn.

Postby low277 » Sun Jun 18, 2017 8:23 pm

I ordered a Pace Journey SE and it should be arriving at the dealer soon. It is 6 x 12 with a V nose and slanted top on the V. I added 6 inches of sidewall height to 6'6" and also added a 15" x 30" sliding window to each side. I ordered it with barn doors and both a RV style door latch and cam bar on the curb side door. Also comes with a non powered roof vent, ( easier to just swap it out for a powered one I hope.)

Plans are to have it as a multi use trailer. Some camping, some working, some hauling. I want to insulate and wire it, and build a cabinet in the front v. Then I might use it some and let experience lead me. :D

I've read lots of builds and there are a lot a great ideas and talented people here. I'm hoping to borrow some ideas and techniques and also ask lots of questions.

Hope to have first possession pictures soon!

I am starting to gather some materials to start work on my trailer. I have pickup up some foam insulation, enough to get a start on the roof anyway. I already have a porta pottie and a window AC unit. I have also gotten some wiring devices, 12 volt DC plugs, switches etc. I am waiting for my DC twin wire to arrive. I also need to order a powered fan to replace the non powered vent.

I see lots of recommendations for using Henry's roof coatings so I will look at that. I want to install a powered fan and possibly a roof rack made from aluminum unistrut to allow me to possibly carry conduit or kayaks or ladders on the roof.

I have been thinking of painting the inside wood floor and using either a area rug or foam tiles on top. What does everyone use for floor paint?

I just used a Behr outdoor primer for wood and Behr 1 part expoxy garage floor paint and couple of days later, I have not had any issue. It looks like it will dry into a really hard finish. I could have probably skipped the primer part however.

I brought my trailer home. Time to start work on it! I will take some pictures and try to post them. I'm sure I will have questions for you folks who have done this before!

I recently got a different computer and it runs Windows 10. Its a big jump from Windows XP Pro. I have created a album/gallery but I am experiencing technical difficulties getting my computer to accept photos from my phone. This will require some reading and experimentation.

The plan so far is as follows......

Insulate the ceiling: mine is about 1.25 inches deep from the roof skin to the bottom of the steel cross member. Thinking 3/4" polyiso foam followed by
1/2" blue/pink, them 3/4 furring strips and a bottom layer of 3/4 pink/blue then the ceiling sheeting. Should give me 2" total in
the ceiling.

Replace ceiling vent with Fantastic fan or equal.

I see people using/recommending Henry's 587 for the roof, It looks like 1 gallon will do about one coat, how many coats are people putting on?

Install 3? double RV type ceiling lights, LED models.

That should keep me busy for a little bit.

The Henry's spec sheet says two coats ... with the second coat applied perpendicular to the first coat

It says double coat? Missed that and got 2 gallons.

I saw the 100 sq ft double coat/gallon but was confused as to whether it meant that one gallon would do 2 coats on 100 sq ft or it would just do 100 sq ft and I would need 1.5 - 2 gallons?

I read from the HD PDF before, but I just read Henry"s 587 PDF and reads as 100sqft, needs 2 gal? It seemed to cover fine.
Ill see if I can find the old instructions, but I just read that as 2gal/100.

That's why I don't trust Home ripoff. But I do shop there as my friend works there and I have a HD credit card.
