It’s amazing how fast someone can disappear, life, health, work, so forth. Then you recognize they are missing and on the forums we have no other form of checking in on them

1999 peterbilt classic, just under 800k miles and runs pretty well for a life of oversize equipment on it.

Trailer is getting less attention for sure

Big Dave, Howdy;

Nice to be able to have something to fall back on if necessary or just for grins.
I don't miss driving a big truck an still give'em all the space I can on the road.

I was told a cdl will always be able to find a job

Fortunately I have many of those always have a job skills

Like paint correction

This tank is going to be used as an urn for the bike builder who passed on the road, he built and painted the bike. Bike has been stripped and tank will be the urn and hung on the wall

Look at how bland it was before polish and then the POP!

We will text Dave’s wife and see if everything is ok. We had a nice time at Joshua tree national Park then went back east a couple of hours to Lake Mead for a few days then on to Death Valley for three days. We had a duststorm, with wind gusts to 50 mph while in death Valley and then it actually rained while we were there. Temperatures were nice but they went to 107 F two days after we left. We then went to pinnacles national Park and Sequoia and Kings Canyon national Park. We will be near Mariposa California Sunday to visit Yosemite for 4 days. Then we will be in Lassen Volcanic NP for 8 days. Then going to Lava Beds National Monument, and then to Red Woods NP on the coast of Northern California.

McDave is pretty busy rebuilding a motorcycle and a motor for the van that pulls his cargo trailer. So everything is good he is just a little busy at this time. His wife didn’t say if it was his motorcycle or someone else’s.

ris, Howdy;

Thanks for the update on McD. With all the "stuff" that's been going on this past year
it's good to know folks we care about are "OK".

Yes, ditto... good to hear. Thanks for the update. I was a bit concerned.

Enjoy your trip. I am building another CTC (smaller version) since I have to stay close to home for a little while longer. ...may be able to leave later this summer. I need to get out to Nebraska at least for a Maiden voyage. Would like to do some remodeling on my son's house or build a tree house for my grandson's at a minimum then meander south. I am going to have to wait for cooler weather again before I can hit the desert now. Missed that window of opportunity for this year when my father in law passed away in January days before I was to head West and then I had to go north to take care of family matters. I am glad to hear you are able to enjoy it however.

After four months visiting National Parks from Big Bend NP iN Texas across the southwest to Death Valley NP in California then north through California, Oregon up to Olympic NP in Washington we are heading east. From 21 to 24 July we will be in Leavenworth Washington. Then on to Coulee Dam and then toward Glacier NP. Trailer is doing fine only had to replace a valve stem in one tire and the drawer glides on our fridge drawer since leaving Florida. Spending over a month in the desert southwest caused several cracks to appear between pieces of plywood and the bathroom vanity door bowed so much the top of the door would not even touch the vanity. By the end of the second week on the Oregon coast the cracks disappeared and the vanity door would latch again. Wood moisture content.
We really had a great time crabbing and clamming for a week on the Hood Canal in northwest Washington. Caught lots of Dungeness and rock crabs. And the clams are 3 to 4 inches across. Worst time was hernia surgery in Silverdale Washington. Just woke up one morning and there it was. Not sure what I did to cause it. Nine days later and hiking up to 3 miles a day. First time in five years of travel either of us had a health problem while traveling. Kind of scary finding good doctors when far from home. If we are near any of you and you want to meet up let us know.

After we left glacier we were going to head down to Dave’s House But he has gone to Sturgis. So instead we decided to take highway 2 all the way across Montana, North Dakota into Minnesota. We are presently at Devils Lake State Park near the city of Devils Lake. We leave Friday for north western Minnesota. The last couple weeks we have been in smoke from the forest fires most of the time it was not bad but it did obscure the Mountain View’s. We have stayed in some really nice city parks and county parks while traveling HWY. 2. Traffic on Highway 2 is like Florida traffic was in the 1960s. Hope everyone is having a great summer.
At this time we have put 39,326 miles on this cargo trailer in 3 trips. We have replaced six tires and brakes and that is the extent of repairs so far. I am glad we do not have slide outs we have seen a lot of people working, pushing, beating on slide outs to get them back in.

After 19,324 miles over a travel period of 8 months and 1 day we are back in Frostproof Fl. It was a great trip we left home on March 5 2021 went west to California then north to Washington then east to Northern New York then south to Florida. We went to 17 National Parks over 7 state parks and numerous National Forests. We arrived home on Nov. 6 2021. At 9 mpg that is about 2000 gals of gas. We had a great time and enjoyed all the parks we visited. We stayed from 5 to 10 days in each National Park. So far on 3 trips totaling 21 months we have traveled 45,117 miles in our 8.5 ft. X 18 ft cargo trailer conversion. We have had 2 flats in that entire 45,117 miles. Both of the tires went flat over night on the tailer and we replaced 2 tires on the truck. We grease the bearings and make sure the tires are in great shape before each trip. We are still using the same 4 Trojan 105 six volt batteries that we bought in 2015 for our boat. We did the American great loop on our boat twice which is 9 months long and 6,200 miles with the same batteries. So the batteries have been in use for 39 months over 5 years of travel. They are still working just fine. The Engle 30 quart fridge has been in use on both the boat and the cargo trailer trips for the same 39 months. It is a power miser. The automatic adjusting trailer brakes worked great on this trip so thanks Don for the tip of using automatic adjusting trailer brakes. ( we put 5200 lbs axles on our trailer when we purchased it) The Olympic Wave 3 (3000 BTU) heater was great when we camped in the mountains of Cali, Oregon, Washington and Montana There were a lot of 30's degree nights in the mountains. Also we still love our rear facing wireless camera that is mounted on the rear of the trailer for seeing vehicles behind us. We have also used the Natures Head composting toilet for all our boat and trailer travels and it is still working great. Next year our plan is to go boating on the Erie Canal, the Trent Severn Canal in Canada, Georgian Bay, the North Channel and then the Rideau Canal, Ottawa, Montreal, the 1000 islands on the St. Lawrence and Lake Champlain. We gave a lot of tours of the Cargo Trailer on each of our trips. We also saw more cargo trailer campers this trip then the two other trips. We really enjoyed traveling HWY 2 from Montana to Northern Wisconsin.
