Well, thanks to hours and hours of reading all of your posts, the wife and I finally pulled the trigger on our new 7x12 Pace American Journey SE. We special ordered about a month ago and picked it up this past weekend.

Got started as soon as we pulled in the driveway in pulling the wall paneling off, insulating and reinstalling paneling. Day 2 insulated the ceiling and installed corrugated steel panels for a bit of a more rugged look. Now we are deciding on the wall covering options as the paneling is simply chip board. Once we get the walls figured out, it's onto putting poly on the floor and officially deciding on the design for our interior.

So far, couldn't be more pleased with the trailer, rides very smooth and so glad we decided to have not only two windows installed but a side door with interior screen door.

I just want to say once again how awesome this site and the members are. So much knowledge sharing and expertise that truly helped us make this decision!

Thanks!
Ryan

Welcome Rygolf32,
We are glad you joined us. That is the third or fourth corrugated tin ceiling I have seen recently. I have also seen it used elsewhere as wall covering and bathroom stalls etc. I like it. I think you made a wise choice with the 7 x 12. Did you get any additional height as well? Having windows and screen door installed at factory makes sense as well if you buy a new trailer. I need a screen door.
Well hey, Ryan. Looks like your jacked about doing some camping. That's good clean fun, and if the family can spend time together so much the better.
Glad you are here.

McDave

PS. Nice Family you have. The twins are Boxers?

Hi McDave, thanks for the nice comments!

We did go with 6'6" interior height so I have room to stand up! Definitely a must for me.

Actually, the boxers are quite a few years apart. The 'old guy' is almost 11 and the younger girl is just 4 but they act like they've been together forever!

Thanks!
Ryan

Weekend number 2 and more progress made.

Wasn't happy with the original ceiling turnout so took down everything and started over, matching seams better and definitely turned out better.

Insulated the floor with reflectix and 1/4 cedar over the top, 1st coat of poly down. Will attempt to put on two more poly coats this week before starting walls, building cabinetry and bed frames.

Rygolf32, Howdy;

As I mentioned in another post I've not insulated my CT yet and the reason is I keep asking
question of myself and keep finding different ways to go about it. I've been to the Reflectix
site and found that they recommend there be some separation (air), between the Reflectix.
Her's from their website.

Here's their recommendations for different types of construction.

So it has been a while since I've been able to post. The combination of bad weather and busy weekends made for quite the delay on getting this thing road ready. Finally have it ready to sleep in!

First time out will be this coming weekend. We'll be able to see what amenities we want to add, etc. but for now, the basics are done! No more sleeping on the ground in a tent!

That a boy! I wondered where ya went. Yeah, that's a great ceiling. Like you said, take it out camping, then decide what you need/ want. It's amazing. We all were able survive camping just fine with a backpack, pup tent and fishing rod. Now we have hot showers, cold beer, color TV and microwaves. Euell Gibbons is rolling in his grave. Remember that guy?
Well, have a great time. Don't let the boxers wear ya out.

Thanks guys!

We took her out this weekend for the first time and it was great! No hassles setting up our tent and it poured overnight and we stayed perfectly dry! What a difference from our tent days as you said McDave!

This weekend will be a 4 day excursion at the lake so we'll get some solid testing in for sure.

Have a great holiday weekend!
