Maybe I missed it, but was this insulated?
I love the stove , any info on that ?
Looks like I may be stepping up to a 6-wide.

Yes insulated with 1” foil faced rigid insulation.

The wood stove is the Cubic Cub Mini wood stove. It really does a good job keeping the trailer warm.

I must have scrolled too fast. Love that stove, I'll be making room for that into my build.

It’s a great stove. I like sitting out there when it’s cold, reading a book and drinking a beer with the stove roaring away. If you order one make sure you also purchase the stove pipe as there isn’t anywhere else to buy the double wall that size. At least not that I could find here in the states.

They do go one sale. I purchased mine and it was about 40% off. Which helped as shipping was spendy coming from Canada.

Is there any issues with rain entering the exhaust pipe or wet weather driving ?
I've thought about having it exit either out the rear doors or on the side. Maybe having it sealed off (removable panel) for driving and install the cap when parked.

When driving and during longtime storage I remove the vent cap and install this.

My other concern was ash blowing around when traveling. Unless I vacuum the stove out there is always a bit of ash left in it.

The rubber plumbing cap works great and only takes a minute to install or take off.

I do too. Also spring trips to the coast, which can be pretty wet. Nice to have a dry fire going in the trailer.

Here’s the cap I use when burning. I actually haven’t taken it off this winter. We just haven’t had a threat of major snow accumulation. It’s snowing now but we only have an inch or so.

It’s a pellet stove cap. Fits nicely over the double wall pipe.

Snowing = good food

Postby dirtsailor2003 » Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:17 am

Its been snowing so all the weekend cooking has been all cast iron!

A camp favorite of ours is making Dutch Baby's in the DO.

So for Sunday morning breakfast that's what we had.

The recipe is pretty simple.

First get your DO set up for 425°

Ingredients:

3 eggs
4 tablespoons butter (cut into 4 pieces)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup flour
5 tablespoons of dry milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon grated nut meg
powdered sugar

For serving fresh lemon, preserves, maple syrup, etc.

While DO is heating up mix the batter.
Mix all dry ingredients (When camping I will mix these up at home and put into a container. )
Mix eggs and water together, beat well.

Add wet to dry and mix until frothy.

Once DO is good and heated add butter. Allow to melt but not brown. Pour in batter replace lid. Cook for 20-30 minutes or until top is golden brown and puffy. Remove from DO .

Top with powdered sugar and serve.

Another camp breakfast which was Saturdays meal is one skillet egg sandwich

Last night was cast iron baked nachos. This can be made at camp in the DO.

Layer tortilla chips with your favorite toppings and bake at 350 for 15 minutes

And of Course last but not least Loco Moco!

Dirt Swabby, Howdy;

Ok, double post eh? I asked a question in the 'other one'.

New window coming

Postby dirtsailor2003 » Wed Jan 15, 2020 3:07 pm

Ordered a window to install in the curb door. 14" x 21" half vent from Vintage Technologies. Could be here as early as Friday. Has interior trim ring and is not supposed to require any goop or such to install. So we will see how it goes. I don't plan on installing any framing as the door is solid core foam. I may end up needing to modify the installation a bit. Wont know until I get the window and check things out. I have installed windows like this before on the boat builds I have done so shouldn't be too difficult.

Window has arrived! Laid out and if the weather holds out I will install this weekend.

Bought from Vintage Tech, Frank Bear, through Amazon.

Packed like they were going to ship it through a war zone. Arrived unsaved.

Installed the widow today. Total time with layout took 1 hour. I purchased the window from Vintage Technologies via Amazon. 14x21, with clamp trim ring and no sealer gasket. I had my son help hold the window in place while I screwed the trim ring on. Probably could’ve done it myself using duct tape to hold the window but it was nice having a helping hand.

I noticed your door has a different hinge.

I wanted to order my windows yesterday but was concerned about the hinge being too close.
