Had to tear myself away from the camper for a weekend. Rainy season is here and the yard needed attention. Brown and crunchy to knee-high in a matter of days... And all the other stuff I ignored all winter.

Next is window cutouts and insulation, then electric.
My brother worked as, and is a knowledgeable electrician. He's going to give me a hand there.
I told him what I had and asked him, 30 amp or 50 amp shore power.
He said 30 will be fine.
What are you guys running?
I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age.

30 amp. AC and or heaters draw the most. Fridge is only 3.5. The charger/converter is rated for 55a but that is mostly for slide-outs and such. I've never used over 12/13a total.

Yeah I’m just running 15 amp service. I don’t have much to run besides ac.

30, it is. Thanks, guys.

There be holes! :)
Cut them this morning and started gluing the skin to the framing around the openings.

Image

Window corner blocks are white oak scraps.
I also, glued and braced a couple other spots that needed it.

Image

I sprayed all my wall studs and added steel framing heavily, with "Rust Converting" primer.
In a day, it seemed to turn from a rickety, stripped out cargo trailer, in to a camper shell. 8)
I start insulating in the morning.
I'll really be gettin' somewhere once the plywood's back up.
Happy Saturday!

Haha, your pics looked a little familiar. I did a little skin gluing myself this weekend.
I get paranoid about shavings, sawdust and stuff getting between the skin and insulation because I am all sealed up.
That's why I cut the small holes first. I've also had duct tape over the crack while working on the trailer, especially during routing.
Your trailer is coming along great! I'm enjoying your progress.

Thanks, Steve. I was gonna ask about the glass and corrugated tin in your picture, but buzzed through your build thread instead.
Fold up tables... Awesome!
You're an artist. I'm good with my hands, but usually lack that creative vision.
Love the Steampunk stuff.
Mechanicals are beautiful, Man! 8)

Well, I didn't start insulating today, but I did get a few odds and ends done.
I finished gluing the skin to the framing at the AC vent openings. I actually mounted my PVC box first, to give me a nice flat surface to clamp to.
I also riveted a disk of aluminum over the factory installed "out" vent at the rear passenger side.
I'm going to rig up a blast gate so I can close off the front, "in" vent while traveling. It will have a fan, and will be my bathroom exhaust.

I need to get some touch- up paint... I got in a hurry yesterday, and didn't realize I'd missed applying one strip of masking tape when doing my cut-outs.
My jigsaw shoe made a nice scratch where things weren't protected... UGH!!! :x
I'm sure it'll get scratches from tree branches and stuff, eventually, but not already! :disappointed:

... ;)

I wasn't able to get much done on Saturday. Had dinner guests coming (Not my Idea.) and a Honey-do list to take care of. ;)

Today, I was able to get all of my insulation fit, except for the second layer at the ceiling and what goes inside the doors.
I still have to tape it all off... What a difference covering up all the bare metal and construction adhesive slop made.! :)

Image

I was playing around with the blue tape again...

Image

My bathroom will have a slider on "barn door" hardware. (Overly trendy right now, but WTH.)
I've been working on my little sink cabinet on the side... Still needs a door.

Image

My AC grills fit the holes. :ok:

Image

I'm trying to picture how a roll-up awning might work with my side door.
There's only 5-1/2" between the top of the door and the roof.

Nice job on those AC vents ... same with the braces riveted in place to secure the opening... looking good!

Clearance can be an issue with the awnings. The door wants to contact the fabric when the awning is deployed. Some folks use a roller on the door to protect the fabric. You might want to look into the patio style awning like I used. Since you have a "flat roof" that is square at the corners it may work to your advantage. I have the rounded corners so I had to fab some mounts but ended up with plenty of clearance. I will probably rework those mounts to sexy them up someday, but they work for now. I have been very pleased with the awning overall.

Karebru... you can install a smaller ( in width) awning and just stop before the door. Nothing says it has to go over the door. There may be a few times you have to be quick going in and out due to the rain, but it will be the exception most likely. With the RV awning it can stand up to the wind when anchored, so the good news is you can use it in the rain with wind blowing. Used for sun shade... no issue with door exposed. Win/win.

I built+ my first CTC that way with a smaller width awning due to door height also. It really was not a problem. On my current CTC, I went with extra ceiling height for other reasons which made it a non-issue for door interference with the awning.

BTW, your AC vents and install so far look top notch. Very nice implementation!

I had similar issue, just used a roller. They protect the fabric on trailers when awnings are dipped down too.
But another idea is the awning can go above the roof line. Just the "rail" needs to be secured to side of trailer. As high as you can go for the most clearance. While I'm not a fan of this I've seen it so it works too.

Thanks, as always, guys.
I was just thinking ahead about awnings. Got enough other things going on at this stage to worry about it too much.
As a kid camping with the family in a truck camper, we always carried a screen tent that got set up over the on-site picnic table.
With no AC, it was my preferred place to sleep on hot nights.
I actually have one that someone gave me for Christmas several years ago. I guess I ought to open it and set it up and see what it looks like. ;)

I love the long days of summer in Florida! (It seems to be starting early this year... Mid 90s already.) 8)
I work in a hot, open-air shop. So when I get home, I definitely enjoy an hour or two of air conditioning, but then when the sun gets low, and it's cooled off just a little... This evening I grabbed a couple of beers and started taping off my insulation.

Insulation is all taped off and sealed. I left the factory nails in when I removed the plywood. It was a pain working the foil tape flat around the protruding nails. If I do this again, I'll go through the trouble of pulling them all.

I also firred out for my finished ceiling with 1x3 spruce, creating space for a second layer of insulation board.
It stiffened up my flat roof by a surprising amount... And I didn't run any screws up through the roof! 8)
(One less thing to loose sleep over.)

I'm getting so close to finish work, I can taste it!
