Finally finished up the 3d print of my vent for the fold out room, this will be closed whenever we use the fold out in "porch mode" so we're not blowing ac outside or letting critters inImageImageImageImage

Just an FYI....That's a 20 amp rated outlet.

Yeah I know, thanks Beachguy005. 20 amps was the largest I could find, the unit I'm using draws 20 amps so fingers crossed it will be sufficient but I will definitely be monitoring it :)

A "fingers crossed " approach to electrical wiring usually leads to disaster and is never a good wiring method. You can find a 30 amp outlet and wire it with #10. If you're going to use that 20 amp, make sure you never use a breaker feeding it larger than 20 amp.

That's what I did, I've got 10awg wiring and a 20 amp breaker wired in. The heating unit I got has a std residential plug which is why I was needing to use that style of outlet. We used this in our house for 7 months with that arrangement and it didn't present any signs of overheating, I could cut the end off and wire on a 30amp plug or even just wire it direct as I don't have any intention of moving the unit once installed, I have just been reluctant to mess up the "factory" plug.

Surprised it came with a standard cord. What does the unit draw for max amps?

With it wide open I read 23amps with my clamp.

Reminds me of a window shaker.

I believe the specs call out for a 30 amp GFI breaker on that heater. Makes sense if it draws 23 amps. Given that it's a heater, a resistive load, you'll be potentially drawing a constant 23 amps through an outlet rated for 20 amps, mounted in a wood cabinet that's probably going to get filled with other combustible gear. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah it's been bothering me :NC I think I'll change it out. Thanks for the feedback!

So this duct is to add A/C + heat to the bathroom? It looks as if you have a handle on the "printing" process. I am going to have to make time to learn this skill soon. It will be invaluable for any type of DYI. Can you give some direction where to begin?
I am learning a lot from your build, Thank You so much.

Yes, we found out quickly on our last outing how stifling that little room got with the door closed and it was inconvenient to leave the door open when we had guests so I came up with this fix. The duct is basically a scoop which steals a small portion of the forward vent and redirects it into the bathroom via the small hole I cut in the wall above the door it's not a huge amount of air but for the small space it seems to be adequate only time will tell. I could increase the airflow be stealing a bit more of the vent but I didn't want to take too much away from the main cabin.

I love 3d printing McDave! I can't begin to tell you all of the things I have designed and made with it.

The printer I have is a Prusa I3 mk2.5s https://www.prusa3d.com/ it's a little on the pricey side as far as printers go but if you want a tool that works nearly flawlessly then this is one of the ones to get.
You can also check out http://www.thingiverse.com for stuff to make (you'll find me on there as wyldesyde007 and I have 25 designs uploaded to date)
Another 3d printing community which has a lot of info is https://www.simplify3d.com/

Got the Ducha outlet changed out to an actual 30amp. I was reluctant to cut off the factory end but this is definitely the better way to do this.Image
