Aluminum or Steel Trailer Build? Pros/Cons

I really enjoy Slim's channel. A serious problem with his aluminum trailer.

I consider it a minor miracle that Slim found a fab shop nearby with the skills to weld aluminum, let alone the fact that the fabricator had the various aluminum stock on hand, and knew how to fab and install the gussets. I suspect that if that had happened to me while on the road, away from home, I would have bought a hand crank winch and a flat bed trailer for about $2k, winched the broken trailer onto the flatbed myself, headed for home, and then sold the flat bed trailer when I got home. Slim was fortunate to have gotten off the hook so easily. I bet he never forgets that trip!

That's why I bought steel. Far fewer people that can weld aluminum out there.

I will keep my steel frame... especially after watching Slim's video when it came out.
