Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am just curious I have read where people say that taking a 4x8 cargo trailer and turning it into a small camper for one or two would not work. It seems that that would be about the same size as a 4x8 teardrop, in fact for me I would not be adding a galley so that would be a little bit bigger I would think. What are your thoughts? Does anyone have pics of a 4x8 cargo conversion that you would care to share if you have done one?

Quite a few of them came from here CTC. Again check the images tab or scroll down for more info. I tried the
Google search in the page header here, but it's mostly TD related, I wonder why .
Any way, hope that between the 2 you can find some information that is helpful to your project if then start askin'
a lot of questions, we strive to be helpful and look around outside the box as well as under it and above it as well.

It works very well for a single camper or a couple that are very friendly. I have a 2015 Runaway 4x8 that has a single door and 2 windows as well as AC. I love it and it is basically a cargo trailer "box on wheels". Unfortunately my needs are changing and I am building a 5x10 so I can camp with friends that aren't friendly enough to sleep 2 in a 4' space.

I saw a nice one, which was either a 4x8 or 4x7, built by a fellow member of the S. Central Tears group https://www.facebook.com/groups/southcentraltears/?ref=group_header, while at Beavers's Bend last April. I was impressed by his use of space, and the fact that he had everything possibly needed in his kit.

This little cargo trailer, owned/built by young Jose Martinez, is constantly in use, as he travels around the country with his wife and child. He made it off-road capable, and uses it as such. Though the photos don't show it, he has stacked platform beds inside, while most of the gear is attached to the exterior...a wise choice for sleeping comfort, IMHO.

We looked at 4x8s when choosing our cargo trailer to convert. Ultimately, <4 feet for two people (particularly of my size, 6'1" ~200 lbs) just wasn't going to be comfortable, doable yes, but not ideal. Going to a 5x8 wasn't much of a cost difference nor put us in any trouble with the trailer not fitting where we wanted to tow it (and it actually matched the tow vehicle width nicely) so we went with more space.

If you truly only plan to use it as a one person camper, it'll be fine. If you want to fit two...just know it'll be intimate, even if you're petite people. So consider the true benefits of the smaller size vs what you want to achieve with it.

LOVE the use of the Etrack on the outside. I have Etrack on the inside of my 5x10 but never considered it for the outside. I've got some more planning to do now I believe!

L-track looks so much nicer, can be flush mounted, does E-track have an advantage other than cost?

Just curious, wondering if the E-track makes any kind of whistling noise going down the road. I
remember that I used to have a twist in the straps when I pulled a flatbed or there would be the
whrrrrrrrrrrrr sound.
