After looking at many ideas, concepts and builds I decided to buy a cargo trailer and convert it for the main purpose of camping with a young family.
1. I do not have enough $$$ to buy a new travel trailer.
2. My tow vehicle is a Toyota Sienna rated for max 3500lbs towing. Even considering travel trailers our possible options are very limited.
We owned two popups. I wanted to go smaller/ lighter and sold them. We bought a big high quality tent. Then after camping through 5 days of heavy cold rain on the west coast of Vancouver Island I realized my family loves camping. We also needed something that can keep us warmer and dry. On Vancouver Island, only the Pacific Rim National Park has facilities.
My wishlist:
4 beds with proper mattresses.
A place for the family (4) to sit and play games while it pours outside.
Something I can insulate.
Dry camping for about 3 days (weekend).
I ordered a new 6x10 Continental Cargo V-Series with:
2 windows (1 egress)
Barn doors
Electric brakes
Side door
6" extra height
I went through multiple concepts. My biggest problem was the interior width of the trailer. at 5'11" I just (just) could not lay flat. I knew that would become uncomfortable for me very quickly.
Everything can be removed except the built in nose bed/ seat/ table/ bunk. This way I still have a useable trailer for hauling 4x8 or furniture.

Looking at two sets of bunks with dedicated washroom (I liked this layout but the space between the sets of bunks would have been too tight):

I saw so many great ideas while doing my research it is difficult to give all the necessary credit. Thank you to everyone for sharing!
