Cargos in camp grounds

Postby Kim Armstrong » Sun May 26, 2019 9:12 am

Has anyone had a problem with campgrounds rejecting cargo trailers? Just wondering. Thanks

I have not yet, but at the end of the day, the kind of campground that would do that is probably a campground I'd avoid anyhow. If I wanted to be around self important folks, they're not hard to find.

That said, some concerns are legitimate when is comes to connecting up to their power grid and etc.. I think that is the only real concern in some cases.

There has been such a huge growth in the use of alternative RVs, such as TDs, CTCs and other homemade designs that it's brought a lot more folks traveling and camping, so it would be really foolish for any campground to turn up their nose at them. I've got a small 5x12 CTC and I've never had an issue.

We were in LasVegas over Christmas, and had planned to camp at Redrock Canyon campground. The government shutdown made that impossible.

While scrambling for somewhere to camp, we learned that within the city limits of Las Vegas, RV parks can only take "store bought" campers with one of the various trade group manufacture stickers. So, something to keep in mind.

With our CTC, we have always been welcome at KOA campgrounds. We have also been to Minnesota State Park campgrounds, and Minnesota State Forest campgrounds. No problems at either.

kirkupnorth, Howdy;

Question, did you check with any of the Casinos? Most make some sort of concession to RVers.
Some even offer free camping.

I finished my conversion in early 2015 and hit the road. Started full-timing in Feb 2016. Absolutely no problems with any campgrounds and/or RV parks.

Hope this helps.

Hey, Hark-

We were thinking of trying the casinos, but then we remembered a youtube we'd seen about some boondock sites just outside of the city. We ended up in a place called "Government Wash". The youtube link is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96njlwgMOhY

It was boondocking, so it was nice and quiet. Here's where we ended up:

156991 156990

Really not bad at all, just a little hard to get to.

Hmmm...
We haven't registered at a campground in years, and back then it was a tent. Do they require that you list the make of your RV or trailer?
(In my mind, I still separate the two. An RV is self-powered.)
My cargo trailer is a Forest River. Maybe I should have left the stickers on. ;)
