Toy Hauler: 7x16 Conversion Finally Finished!

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and wanted to share the details of my recently completed Toy Hauler/Camper Conversion. It took almost a year and a half to build, but this past June (2019) we took our first trip! We've taken 4 trips total this summer and are soon headed to the Smokey Mountains for some camping/motorcycling.

I converted a 7x16 Neo Mfg. all aluminum cargo trailer into a camper (or "glamper" as my wife calls it) and toy hauler for my 2017 Harley Davidson FLHTK. Some of the details...full AC/DC system w/ deep cycle batteries and solar ready. Fully insulated, air conditioning, fresh/grey water tanks, propane tank for in-line hot water heater and cooktop, indoor bathroom, outdoor shower, full size bed that folds into cabinet, dinette converts to small bed/couch, solid maple cabinets and plenty of storage inside and out. It weighs 3,400 lbs. w/o the bike and pulls very easily w/ my Toyota Tundra. The bike is held in place with the fantastic B&W Biker Bar system - no straps or anything.

You do that kind of fancy wood work for a livin'???
The couch/sofa/bed does it slide out to give some elbow room for 2?
If so, how?

Gorgeous! You got lotsa talent! Which model Neo is it? I have the NAMR 7x16 and have just started the conversion. Would love to see yours; what part of the smokies will you be and when if you know? We go to the smokies all the time; I will be retiring November 1st so will be going more often. Maybe we will run into you. We live just below Nashville so smokies are close by. Again, a gorgeous trailer!

Yours looks like the NAM model perhaps. What is the grill looking thing on the passenger nose?

Hi Hank - Thanks! No, I don't do woodworking for a living - just a hobby. And yes, I designed the camper for just my wife and I (we recently became empty nesters), so the couch is for two and the bed, which appears out of the cabinet across from the couch, is supported by the cabinet/chest on the floor. I'll post a pic soon.

Foxontherun: It's a Neo NAVF model. The grill on the front is the exhaust for a small window air conditioner that is mounted inside, "stealth style". I didn't want a unit mounted to the top.

We'll be in the Smokies - Fontana Dam area - in mid October.

Wow.. gorgeous build! I like it alot. Very nice design on the air Conditioner installation and intake.

I like the bike mounting system you jave. Saw them demonstrated at Bike Week last year. They do not make them for my Victory Kingpin due to engine placement and frame clearance. Wish they would work for me.

Is the AC vent you utilized a standard RV AC vent or something different? My eyes ain't the greatest right now but the picture looks like it might be different than the standard RV vent. I am also trying to be stealth and I like your AC setup. My walls are 16" oc on my NAMR, would the vent you used fit that width? Can you post a link to what you used for the sidewall vent please?

Thank you! Designing the space to haul a 9' long motorcycle and sleep two along w/ all the other "nice to haves" we wanted was a challenge and took a while. I even made a scale model from foam core before starting and once I got the trailer I mocked up the space again to make sure it felt right. I really enjoyed the whole process.

Thanks for the link. Since it is in the nose, have you noticed any water getting in when traveling or do you have some kind of cover for it? I know the webpage indicated it was designed to keep water out; just curious if any gets in when driving down the road.
