New rules for visiting NM

Postby hankaye » Mon Jul 13, 2020 8:15 am

Howdy All;

Well, basically if you come here to visit it's a 14 day Mandatory self-quarantine
then No access to State Parks. NM residents ONLY gotta show an ID first.
Also, if you think you want to see a National Park or Monument then ya have to
show that you've done the 14 day bit too.

Nice little article in RV Travel Sunday newsletter today.

Just so ya know.

I do agree. World meters has NM at 548 deaths with 424,355 tested.. 99.87% survival rate of the tested. Ya, I do agree.

Sure... Those concerned can stay home.. Nobody is making anyone go out. Need herd immunity to stop this. Certainly those at most risk (elderly, sick, etc.) need to take appropriate cautions. Also.. don't believe all they hype in the MSM.. I live in a very Covid-19 active county in Florida with health professionals on the front lines in my family (Wife and Daughter). Death rate is less than 1% and mostly terminal folks or other factors involved as well. The change is that testing everywhere now.... not a 1:1 correlation to hospitalizations at all and many cases are asymptomatic. Last shutdown didn't stop this... did it? I do know it negatively impacted the well being of many hard working families due to unemployment and it shuttered many small businesses. Nuff said.

Based in population you are knocking n the door of joining the top states.

Latest on herd immunity has this option going down a slippery slope.

Life in general seems to be a slippery slope these days with nothing but gloom and doom. You just cannot tell what is true and what is not out there anymore. I am basing my choices on folks close to home who would know and have nothing to lose or gain politically or professionally.

The bottom line is you have to choose how to live in the midst of all this misinformation. I choose not to live in fear and carry on my life as much as I can. Based on the numbers, I will be fine and so will the folks staying home which is thier choice. Really, it makes it nicer for me in the uncrowded restaurants and etc. It is sad, I see people running around in thier cars by themselves and out walking thier dogs with masks on. They appear to be afraid of infecting themselves.

The lockdowns and forced closure of businesses is causing more harm than good. A good friend of mine was just laid off today. Good chance of losing his house and way of life if he cannot find comparable job in a month or two.

The more likely scenario for folks supposedly catching it twice ( herd immunity argument) was a bad test the first time or their immune system never totally eliminated the virus the first time. Also, very few of those cases anyhow.

In any event, we will probably all hear alot less about Covid-19 after Nov. 3... just a hunch.

Indeed, Don.

I don't think enough folks have weighted the cost of the shutdowns in all the other ways it's costing Americans and it's hurting millions and will do so for a long time.

Cheers.

Howdy All;

I made the original post here to inform folks that were thinking of coming to NM
to act as tourists of what was going on and used the link to the most recent (at
that time), information available.
Debate is always good, sometimes there isn't time, but we do have that here. Some
folks like poking a hornet's nest with a stick, me not so much. I feel that folks that do
shouldn't be surprised when they get stung, but they usually do (sigh). This is one of those
areas where folks are tired of hearing each others views (I have my own), and are starting
to become "testy" due to the amount of time this is taking to resolve.
So, mask or no mask, travel or stay home, these are personal opinions and options that
we each make. If we practice consideration for others then we should be ok (personal opinion
that I'm able to express), it's not for us to be telling others how to act that was their Parents job.
It's just going to be awhile and we need to practice patience and understanding,
some things I've always been short of. I'm a work in progress :roll:

Well said Hank! I have in-laws that live in NM who we were supposed to go visit the first two weeks of July; they asked us not to come. Mother in law is not happy at all about anyone from out of state visiting NM right. Hasn't been since Corona started; she was horrified when we went to AZ back in March; she would really be horrified now as we live just below Nashville (one of the "hot spots").
