Christmas in St. Augustine?

Postby Karebru » Sat Feb 06, 2021 10:49 pm

We're having a hard time trying to plan a quick weekend get away around my wife's work schedule. Florida is open for business, and it's tourist season. Getting reservation in state parks and even private campgrounds seems nearly impossible. It's sure to ease up in a couple months, but we're realizing that we need to start planning for next winter, now.
One of her clients told her that St. Augustine goes all out when it comes to Christmas lights and decorations. Anybody familiar with that? Any suggestions for parks and campgrounds near by where we might want to get a booking for December?
Thanks!
I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age.

If St.Augustine doesn't work out for you check into James Island County Park in Charleston, SC.

They have an incredible holiday festival of lights show. One person designed most all of it; it is really cool. Stay at the campground if you can, it is real nice. https://www.visit-historic-charleston.c ... ights.html

I know it's further north than St. Augustine but it is worth it. My wife and I visited there several years ago for xmas; real nice.

Thank you. I'll read up on it.
Anything anywhere around the holidays will probably require advanced, pre-paid reservations. Cancellation policies is something I should probably look in to too. Especially with the various local COVID muzzle mandates, etc. In my house, there is no interest in going on a vacation where muzzles are required outdoors.

I've always wanted to see some of the "southern colonial" east coast towns. Savannah, Charleston...
Wouldn't be a bad summer trip, either.
