3", why bother?

Dean, I know there's no way you haul all your iron at once. So how will you decide which pieces you'll take to a gathering?

Kev,
Thanks much for stripping those for me!

Danny,
I could've bought four of the #8s with what I paid for the little one...

Jim,
My menu is how I determine what iron goes with me.
I'm starting to plan them to use one oven for as many things as possible.
I'm pushing a lot of 12" menus up to 14".
As far as the small stuff goes...
I'm still trying to make room in the galley to have a place for them.
My galley got smaller yesterday, as well as the whole profile.
Had to make a template and true up both sides with a router.
The kid had some pretty bad whoopty-doos, his curves weren't faired.
His edges weren't sanded at 90 degrees either.
I got 'em nice now with the faired template.
I also took off a quarter of an inch for weatherstripping at the hatch location.

Hey... How about that???
I got some tear talk in while talkin' iron.

Dean,
That 3" iron seems to be about the right size for making Ice Cream Sandwichs with. Great score! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Dean brings them ALL

Postby Guy » Mon Jun 11, 2007 2:33 pm

Dear Dino,

Now tell the good folks the truth. You bring all of them to every campout. Or if I wanted to make both your statement and mine above both be true I would say. "You design your menu in such a way so that it is imperative that you bring all you BIG IRON."

NIGHT CAP beware reading any thread about Dutch Ovens risks addiction and economic ruin for all who may fall under its spell. If you presently do not curse at ebay in your sleep, - you will. You will moan "griswold" at the most inappropriate climactic times. AND that is not the worst of it, but I will not tell you since it will give you nightmares.
Regards,

Guy

Dean,
Does Lodge have a sales rep opening? You could use that little one to make cookie size waffles. Then press some ice cream between two waffles and freeze.

Guy:

Your descriptions above have me chuckling.Image
To paraphrase you:
Risk addiction and economic ruin for all who may fall under its spell,
the Big Iron curse ... makes one throw barbs at e-bay and is palpable.
***

Dean:

All this talk of Waffle Irons and Big Iron, has got me thinking about Waffle
cones for ice cream cones. To have a substantial Waffle cone hold as a
handle, premium Ice cream has hit my fancy.

To that end I just was looking into recipe's for said same "Waffle Cones".
Image

Don't have ice cream that often but, fondly remember those hand made
Waffle Cones that have more flavor than the cardboard usual cones. The
hand packed ice cream seems to appreciate and exude more flavors while
standing uP in a hand made Big Iron Waffle Cone.

Whatcha think DeanImage

Would you try to make some Iron Waffle Cones and see if your Yutes (1) will like-um with nice Ice CreamImage

Vinny Gambini: It is possible that the two yutes...
Judge Chamberlain Haller: ...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?
Vinny Gambini: Uh... what word?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Two what?
Vinny Gambini: What?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Uh... did you say 'yutes'?
Vinny Gambini: Yeah, two yutes.
Judge Chamberlain Haller: What is a yute?
[beat]
Vinny Gambini: Oh, excuse me, your honor...
[exaggerated]
Vinny Gambini: Two YOUTHS.
