Poor Kenny! help if you can

Postby Eunice » Sat Aug 11, 2007 10:56 am

As seen on another thread I now have a ci waffle iron to add to my DO's, grills and skillets. I just bought a camp kitchen table from Walmart. bought the ez up canopy and also the shower/pottie tent.

Kenny said he would build this since I do not weld so I went to the local ironworks and bought a piece of metal for the top of a DO cook table. We have the legs.
We have seen several tables and took picuters and notes but if anyone has suggestions for Kenny we would really appreciate the advice.

Now we are ready for primitive camping!
thanks
Eunice :D

Eunice,
I did a trade out to have an aluminum table top made.
The table top itself is 3/8" thick, has three ash gaurds (2 short and 1 long) and has an apron on the front long side for sweeping ash into a bucket.
The ash gaurds and apron are 1/4" thick and about 2" tall.
I had this thing made to install on heavy duty slide outs under the galley counter top. Was a neat idea, but only had one choice for the height and it was just too high for comfort.
I bought a pair of folding bench legs from McMaster-Carr, but just couldn't bring myself to drill and countersink attachments points to mount them... (Wasn't too impressed with their qaulity)
I ended up just mounting the legs to a scrap of plywood and used four metal spacers at the four corners to elevate the aluminum table top up off the plywood for the time being.
When time permits, I'll either build beefier legs for it, or leave as is and maybe try another slide out on another build someday...
Sorry, don't have a picture, but I did have it at Mendo... Don't know if you guys saw it or not.

Take a look at this Page if you need a picture to look at, or go Here and type in Dutch Oven Table...

Joanne it was yours that got me started. We saw it at IRG1. Ours will be similar to yours and Jims. I like the 12" high windscreen.

So Jim, is it that great minds think alike? Or two feeble minds can come up with one good idea?  Don't ask my friends for their input!!
