Mary,
I was just making a goof... There's only a few pages of waffle irons on Ebay... It's not like it was a big secret.
Actually, I'd prefer the tall base model of that iron, but this is the first Indianhead waffle iron I've ever seen up for auction on Ebay.
What will most likely happen if I win it, a tall base model will suddenly appear on Ebay right afterwords... :?

Please don't bid on this waffle iron...
I've been watching it from the moment it went up for auction.
A few of you can colaberate this, because you sent me PMs about it...
I do plan on placing a bid on this item, just seconds before the auction ends...

Dean:
You are very fortunate. I wanted a short waffle iron and that one would fill the bill. However I tossed in a bid on another one yesterday with 2 hours to go figuring it would be gone when I got home.
When I got home my bid still held and I got it..... and I can afford it.

$10.75..... Beat that if you can :D
And a big plus, it did not ship from the East Coast and I saved another $10
:applause:

Good luck with your Indian I will be watching along with everyone else. I hope you can afford the shipping from Georgia. Maybe one the Georgia forum members will be happy to pick it up for you locally. You do not need it right away do you?

Well... Not as good a score as some folks $10.47!
But it looks good to me, and I wanted a big #9 waffle iron...
Got this Wagner Sidney #9 patented Feb. 1910 today for $12..

Brick:
A fine looking iron. Since most of them are sold on the East Coast you probably made up for that $1.53 on shipping.

Laredo:
I tried all sorts of techniques, bidding early, bidding late, bidding high, bidding low. I did my own bidding and had a friend use e-bay's bidding assistant. Nothing seems to have made any particular sense. I lost them all until the last one and I just tossed that one in with two hours to go and left the house. Turns out there were only two bids. Lucky me. :)
The only clue I have could be completely off base but the one I got was the rare one ending mid-day on Sunday when everyone was out watching Nascar.
Just pay attention to shipping charges, they can be higher than the cost of the iron. If you see one you really want use Dean's technique and toss big money at it within the last 30 seconds.
I use FireFox and was able to open two brower pages on the same item. I used one to refresh the page every few seconds within the last minute. On the other one I put my max bid on the first bid entry and entered so the next "confirm bid" page was ready to go at 20-30 sec.
This worked very well as a method but I got out bid every time. :(
If you cannot handle rejection, don't bid on anything. :o

So that's what happen...I was watching right down to the last second and the one and only bidder got it....Thought maybe you had waited to long if getting right down to the last second and it hadn't connected in time. I bid on one the other day and lost it that way. Won't bid quite that close again. In fact it said the Reserve wasn't met and come to find out when I put in my last bid that was just to late I hit the reserve and met it. I am in touch with seller and just waiting to hear if we can make the deal....
Still learning this down to the last second bidding....Sorry you missed out but you are monies ahead if that is any consolation..... ;)

What a Tragedy

I too was watching the seconds fall away. It was sort of like the ending of the Soprano's :(

Just so long as you are cool with it , just another small mid-drama in the life of retiree.

Hey Dennis... Some folks like the drama and exitement of bidding on ebay and many try the "wait till the last seconds" technique. That's fine if you are OK with the hassle... and rejection.

Me... I just want to buy the stuff I like with the least amount of bother and the lowest price I can get. The best (and maybe the only way these daze) is to use Sniping software. The Sniping services that charge for membership are a ripoff. The best way is with good software you buy... one time charge. And, the best of those is: AuctionSentry.com

Trust me... I tried 'em all before I found that one. Basicly, you never miss winning an item as long as you bid enough.

Ebay's Bidding Assistant can't beat it either.

That's too much... You guys were watchin' and waitin' and nothin' happened.
I was out in the shop a million mental miles away, scratchin' my head tryin' to figure out how to make a bunch of stuff fit into a thin space that it wasn't designed to fit into... :?
I feel like I let you guys down... :(
Oh well... I'd prefer to have a tall base one, but that was the only Indianhead I've ever seen on Ebay...
Hey maybe I'll have this teardrop finished when the next one appears???

Now you tell me.
But thanks a lot, that information will come in handy when there is something else I need. I need to get bidding soon, ebay keeps sending me messages that I am half way to my yellow star. Whooopppeeee

Thanks Brick

Well... I took a shot in the dark.
Sent the seller a note that if his sell falls through I'd like to make an offer on it... :worship:
