Hi Dean,

I spent most of my time cooking and giving tours of the dog, so I didn't spend much time taking photos. Cliff had his camera going.

It was a real nice event. The park was great too. It was surrounded by trees so it was really nice. Next year's Region II dog is going to be put on by the Sequoia Chapter. I hope that I can make that one too. Good folks all!

MAC!!!!! Now I know who you are!!! I didn't recognize your 'FIREHOG2" handle.

Dean, these are some of the greatest folks! They cook like crazy (with wood even, not charcoal) and do a lot of public service events too. My only regret is that their chapter isn't closer.

Glad you all made it home safe and sound!

We just looked at our canlender for that SLO gathering, and we are free to go. Maybe for the day. What day are you doing the DO classes?

Matt and Joanne- when do you want to do the DO class?

Postby Esteban » Tue Aug 28, 2007 2:31 am

I'm the TD (don't have one) and gathering (never been to one) newbie/head honchito for the SLO Gathering. As of now the SLO Gathering DO demo. isn't scheduled for a particular day or time. I PMed Ma3tt and Joanne to find out which day, Friday or Saturday, and time they prefer to do their DO class.

Triple play...please start with the basics of DOing...I'm a newbie at that too.

Mac, it looks like the class is going to be on Saturday. It should be a lot of fun. Are you going to bring some iron along and join the potluck Sat evening?

What those pictures don't show is the crowds around Cliff & Vanessa's trailer going "ooohh....aaahhhh". It's a sweet trailer!

Ma3tt,

Don't worry I don't even own a dutch oven yet! I should have bought one at the DOG gathering. I hope to have one by the time SLO rolls around so I can practice. I'ts hard to find a 10" at the local brick and mortar stores. I may have to settle for the 12" for starters.

Cliff,
A 12"er is a good one... Most all DO recipes are written for 12"ers.
(You'll just end up cooking a bit more food to share with 1 12"er instead of a 10"er)
Meant to tell you thanks for the pics, those were the first ones I could see, the other links others posted didn't work.
The Sequoia Dutch Ovens Chapter sure has a nice logo! 8)
Was that on a ceramic plate???

Amazon.com is having a Friday Sale on the 10" Lodge Dutch Oven for $29.99 with free shipping. I ordered one a few days ago for $39.99, also with free shipping, and it shipped today.
