Homemade DO Table

Postby Wes » Sun Sep 23, 2007 4:01 pm

Just completed a dutch oven cooking table. Table size is 32" x 16", windsceen is 8" high, total weight is approx. 14 lbs, and the cost of materials was $35.00. I used a 4' x 4' piece of .080" aluminum for the top and the windscreen, 3/4" alum square tube for a supporting frame, and 1 1/4" x 1/8" flat alum for a lip around the table. I had planed to screw 3/4" waste nuts on the corners and use 3/4" black pipe for the legs but I had legs I never use on my Campchef stove so I made use of them here. I also thought about using 1" thick fire bricks to protect the aluminum top but I've cooked on it several times now with nothing and have had no problems.

Here's a picture of the finished table and there are a couple of details in my personal album.

One word Wes.....SWEET!!!

I built a big ol' steel table and it weighs a TON! I love cooking on it but I think I'd like yours better. At least I'd like lifting it a lot more!!

I noticed that you only have 5 posts right now, so a big welcome to the list!! Anyone who cooks in a DO is OK in my book.

I want one :D
It kills me trying to stow my steel Lodge table in the under bunk storage when I do decide to take it.
I've been looking for a lighter solution for a while now...
Wes, I think you have a marketable design there :applause:
