Postby Guy » Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:37 pm

Dear All,

Today I was looking for a small cast iron skillet and found this at Linen and things for 9 dollars. Any thoughts?

Not familiar with that one, but for a couple dollars more you can get this Lodge at Walmart.

That looks like a fine addition. Over Christmas I gave my brother a Emeril large reversible grill for the the BBQ, Turned out he wanted one for the kitchen stove. I had another Linens 20% off coupon and gave him that one before I left town. I may have to look for the one you got, it does look handy and I love a good quesadilla as long as there is a Margarita next to it.

This from a man with no galley on his teardrop :o :o Doug make me say that. :D

Truth be told, Kevin does have a galley and it has a name "The Dive Inn"
Open the back door of the teardrop dive in, get what you need and start cooking. K does a fine job with his Mountain Man Breakfast too.

Lodge looks good too

Postby Guy » Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:54 pm

Dear Kevin,

I went to WalMart first and they were out of the skillet and did not have that one you pointed out. looks like a longer handle on the Emeril one. I do not know how that translates to econometrics. I have to be careful with my hands.

What is interesting is that the Emeril I bought (exactly the same as the one I posted) was being sold as a pancake and egg griddle and not as a quesadilla griddle. They even included two egg and pancake shapes with it and ten recipe cards without any mention of quesadillas.

IN progress

Postby Guy » Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:58 pm

Dear Dennis,

It is an IN PROGRESS Galley. We were all there at one time. :D

But Kevin sure does have an "Old Family Recipe" for stuffed salmon and another one for great cookies.

The only problem I see with them is the sides are too high for omelets.
The sides of my old Wagner only come up about a 1/4" and it's a shallow, rolled slope, probably around 30*. Makes it nice for omelets and pancakes.

Hey Guy, didn't you notice...there's lots of potential markets in the US anymore. In addition to the Anglo and Hispanic market, it's probably marketed to the Japanese as a portable Benihana grill. Something for everyone, all the same thing. Doug

Campground Quesadilla's are great....espeicially with campground margaritta's!! It's fun to pack some leftover rice/beans/grilled chicken/sausage...anything tastes better in a quesadilla!
I don't have a cast iron griddle like Emeril's but I bought a heavy, square (inexpensive) aluminum griddle that I use for quesadilla's, pancakes and burgers too. When I'm trying to pack light it's important to have multi-use pieces like this.

Great for the Omelet

Postby Guy » Tue Feb 12, 2008 3:25 pm

Dear Rich,

Saw your post but too late. I had just finished a great salami & cheese omelet made in the Emeril. :D
