A new piece to my collection

I picked this 6-1/2" dia. skillet with wooden handle off ebay. I was in a collection of girl scout camping cookware and a coofee pot. I picked the lot up with a total (shipping included) $18.00.

The cast iron has some rust spots. I'm hoping that I can season it up.

Nice fine on the cooking set. The little pan will clean up just find. Normally I just throw them in the BBQ and season them, but with the wood handle you'll need to be careful. I'd use a bit of steel wool to clean up the rust spots, then start cooking in it. The seasoning will start to build and before long it will look perfect. Of course it helps to cook fatty foods early on.

If the handle screws off, then reseason it in the BBQ and reassemble.

nice find. I have a small sauce pan with the same handle. No name on tha pot

Thanks for the replies. The handle does come off. I will try to season it up and get it in top notch shape. I've also gotten a free cast iron skillet! only problem is major rust. It's in bad shape. I will try to post pictures of the new rusty one and hopefully fully seasoned one soon.
