Did I do Good?

Postby Micro469 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 7:02 pm

I was at a sporting goods store the other day and found this on a bottom shelf..$45.00 , on sale from $100.00. Is that a good price for this brand?

I like the fact the lid also can be used as a griddle.... or pizza pan.....

John, I got just that 6qt L&C Camp Chef DO on sale at the end of the season a couple years ago...it is my favorite DO. I like the thermometer channel and that top works as a great pizza pan. I've roasted a turkey breast in that DO and done a pork butt, too. I liked it so much that I bought the matching 10" Camp Chef skillet when it went on sale. Don't have the grill pan...but even on clearance for both pieces, I think I paid more than $49. Very well done.

I don't know the size but I believe someone on the Camp-cook site was looking for one of those commemorative DO's.

Is this a special set then? I really don't know... The price seemed too good to pass up. A Lodge Do costs around $40.00 up here.....

I'd say you did good.. Any individual piece is probably $30-$40 (or more) in todays market....

The CampChef Lewis&Clark commemorative DOs and skillets were special. They still offer the L&C 10" DO and their 3/4qt small DO commemoratives on their site, but haven't seen the larger DO or the skillet in stores in quite awhile. Now and then the 3/4qt DOs (with candles in them) show up in Bass Pro and Gander Mtn. stores.

I do think the person on www.camp-cook.com was looking for the LODGE version of the L&C commemorative oven, though. I've never seen one of those.

I used one of those lids to make a pizza and used the pot for a lid, Awkward but it worked great. I have since moved up to the CI pizza oven By George.

Lewis & Clark Commemorative

Postby ELCHILEON » Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:47 pm

Hey All,

I saw the " Commemorative DO's " and remembered buying one new in box from " Cosco " a few years back ( ? ) .
If my memory serves me right (??), They were going for under " $ 50.00 " ($ 39 - $ 49 ), which I thought was a great deal at that time !!

Image
I checked my storage unit and pulled it out " NEW IN BOX "!
No price tag on box to verify what I paid ??
