me?....cook?

Postby 4123 » Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:46 am

OK...we now own a Dutch Oven. Now I need to find one of those thingys that you lift the lid with. What are they called? Can someone sell me one or tell me where to find one? Olga has pointed out that most of the men do the Dutch Oven cooking at gatherings.
Next step....I have to learn how to cook!

There is only one kind to buy.

Bobhenry sells them.

Now that you have a Dutch Oven, you should pop over to www.camp-cook.com and learn how to use it. Many of the members there are also members here.

When you send a slow one right over the plate, you know someone here will take a chop at it and send it over the center field fence!

I bought a pair of Ove Gloves to use while I cook in the DO sometimes. People also use welder's gloves. The Ove Gloves are a little less bukly AND you can use the for pot holders if you set something hot on your counter in the galley.

The best way to get experience is to just cook in the darn thing.

Until I ordered a lid lifter from Amazon, I used the claw end of a hammer.

I developed a dislike for ashes in my food, got the lifter with the sure grip. Now I have 2. Love them!

Always got a death grip on the lid lift ring and never an accident but I gotta say I love my lid lifter.
