SK-14 & 10 1/2"Chicken Fryer **Yard Sale Find**

Postby Ken Fincher » Wed Sep 22, 2010 1:36 am

Found me a 10 1/2 inch chicken fryer w/ lid.
and a nice big fry pan SK 14 it's accually about 15 1/4". It looks just like the griswald that sales for 3 bills +

I was afraid to ask what he wanted for the #14 it has the SK 14 marking on the bottom & it also has the letter (S) on the under side of the little lip accross from the handle.
I could not see any other markings & I thought once the bottom was cleaned up there may be some other markings.

He did have a tag on the chicken fryer for $10 He said he would go $8.
I told him that I realy did'nt need a fry pan that big, what do you want for it,
He replied $30 I realy had to put on my poker face & said man I realy don't need one that big, Heck I'de have to get a bigger truck just to haul it, I told him thats a heck of a good price for some one, but I don't want to insult you I'll give ya $20 for both then he said no problem, give me $20. :D :D :D

Well I cleaned both items up & there was no other visiable markings on the #14
even if it's not worth 3 or 4 bills I'm still very happy, I've been wanting to get a big pan.
Now I've been looking online for lid for it, I've found a couple for around $15.

Both items have been out in the barbicue getting a good seasoning.
I still have to do the lid.

I'll try to post some pic's (Wed)

Maybe one of ya can give me a little info. reguarding who made these?

Man I almost feel guilty

Not realy

10 1/2 Inch Chicken Fryer (Who makes this 1? Old or newer?)
I don't think the lid is the one that came with it, the owner said that it was.??

I also ran across a nice big aluminum griddle that was in some of my dads stuff.
I'll put it in a different posting.

That's really smoooooooth how you got your web address in the picture.

That is a nice looking collection of iron! Fry some chicken in it and you'll have it well on the road to seasoning!

Man you caught me

Yes it was intentional.
I just put my website logo on the back of my new truck & I even got them centered on the first try. :applause:

I just made a new page on my site called Cast Iron there is not much on it as of wright now, But I plan on going threw a bunch of my pictures to find a bunch of pic's of all of the different cast iron that other fellow teardoppers have used from gatherings ect.

Plus I need to pull all of our iron out, I may have to eat my wheeties

(Probabily 500 to 1,000 lbs. worth)

Once I get it all out I'll post some pic's here & on my site.

I think you're right about that chicken fryer lid.
I think it should be a taller dome.

Otherwise excellent score, dude!
