Is it a decent price?

I came across a Griswold cast iron skillet that was square ~9 inch with the V of the square starting at the handle instead of the handle on a straight side. It was priced at $48 and needed cleaning. Not sure if that is good or too high and of course someone could say a price is as good as your willing to pay. I know this forum has way more experience than me so I will wait for any possible responses. Thanks.

That seems high to me. The most important thing in buying a skillet to me is that the bottom is flat. Set it on a flat surface and make sure it does not rock. I would be more comfortable at 25.00 bucks. If it was cleaned and seasoned and ready to use maybe 35-40.

I was thinking it was a little high and not really needed but if it was a real find I was gonna get it. I think I will let it sit.

$48 is at the high end of full value. If the pan was super nice and you wanted or needed it that would be a fair but higher price. Those are later 1940 and 50s skillets and some iron covers, as well as glass covers, were made for them. The iron cover is worth well over $100 for the cover alone.
