Oh, you have to be patient, grasshopper, if you want to wisely own Le Crueset.

I have NEVER paid retail for any of my Le Crueset. In fact, I bought two identical Dutch ovens once, and sold one for a profit on eBay.

I think I paid $29 for my 16 Quart stock pot.

Seek, and you shall find.

My Le Creuset collection:

Year 2000: Le Creuset 5 quart Dutch oven in blue purchased at an estate yard sale for $2 (in perfect condition).

Year 2003: Le Creuset 5 quart Dutch oven in pink purchased at a second hand store for $12

There isn't a lip to help hold the coals on top and the lid slants downward.

I'll have to visit the LeCruset outlest and see if they have some factory seconds in purple. If the price is right, I'll have to get one for my sister.
