Help...what are these? Updated with pictures 4-3-11

Yea guys, I am leaning toward just an old camp style waffle iron. They are really heavy so holding them over a fire will give you muscles. Maybe I will get one cleaned up for the "Cooler By the Lake" outing at the end of the month and try it out. Some one some where has used these things. Sure wish Cliff could channel the relatives as to how they worked.
