New not so old spider

Postby Joamon » Sat Apr 09, 2011 7:09 pm

We went to the flea market again and I came home with a spider.
I got excited when I saw it because you don't seem them everywhere.
It was rusty and it looked old. The guy made me a good deal so I bought it. Not long after I did I got to looking at it decided it wasn't that old.
It did not have a lid but I had one at home that turned out to be a perfect fit. I have been cleaning on it but still have not gotten it as clean as I would like.

Image
It's a shallow one at about two and a half inches.

Image
Notice the rounded bottom and no gate mark.
Image
The top of the sides has grinding marks like newer stuff.
Image
Both the lid and the spidder have the same 12" marks on them even though they were purchased at different times and places.
Image
The lid and the oven look like they were born to go together.
So any idea on make or age?

Thanks Keith

I'm thinking BIRMINGHAM STOVE & RANGE CO perhaps from the 30's judging by the way the handle meets the skillet.

Very nice! Most spiders I have seen are pitted beyond use. Yours looks like it's time to start cooking!
