New Tortilla Pan!

Postby Ratkity » Tue Apr 19, 2011 7:57 am

A friend of mine gave me what looks like an unmarked Lodge tortilla pan that he's had for 20+ yrs.

Looks like this http://tinyurl.com/3gaepb3

It cleaned up and seasoned nicely!

I lub free stuff! I have a question about the smoothness of the cooking surface. Do the cooking surface smoothness vary according to the use of the pan? My little 8in (no 5) pan is very smooth inside while the tortilla skillet surface is fairly rough. Still made an awesome grilled cheese!!

The difference in the texture of the cooking surface has to do with the quality of the casting. Older castings are much better than newer ones. However, with proper seasoning, newer ones cook just fine!
