Well, cool! I'm still interested if someone puts out a cast iron one, as I still think CI is less likely to be damaged from overheating. (Not that any of my brothers melted a cast aluminum pie iron over a Coleman burner when we were kids...) But this looks like some nice "instant" gratification for the upcoming camping season.

wagondude wrote:Interesting. That's about what I paid for my original. They look well made. I like the heavier hinge and handle bosses. I also like that they made sure that you couldn't mistake them for the originals. If Iron would be cheaper, they would sell more and probably recover production cost faster, though.

Well once again, I waited and waited to see where this project was going????
But, when nothing was coming together and a nice original came up on ebay (before these were listed, as I was searching?) I bid on one an won the Action on Thursday.
Paid over twice what these are listed for! :x
So for those of you that think $49.95 is too much? It is well within the ball park!
Do yourself a favor and press Buy it Now!

Ill buy it now as soon as they list it off of FeeBay.. Great Price for sure but after getting the royal screw around from them as a seller Ill never use eBay or PayPal ever again..

On a lighter note..

Since these are now being marketed again expect the cost of the old ones to plummet..

I borrowed one from a friend. Used it as a pattern and had a few cast. There were two roblems, 1. There very heavy for such a small item and 2.the hinges are very brittle. You need to be very careful when drilling them for the rivets. Cast 6 sets and only ended up with 3 workable irons. And some where very rough and needed a lot of cleaning.
