Aha! another veteran of Zork! I can't tell you how many hours I spent/wasted on that game. Might try it again, I'm not afraid of no grue....

So the answer is, yes you can use a Dutch Oven indoors. In and oven the heating elements replace the coals on top and on bottom. On a stovetop, the heating element replaces the coals underneath, Everything else works the same.

I use mine indoors in my fireplace in the winter. Does, that count?

Made an apple dump cake in the cast iron last night using the oven.

I think I learned something....

I set the oven for 400 degrees to get things really rolling and after about 15 minutes dialed back to 350. In about 40 minutes total the cake was tooth pick tested and it came out clean so I called it done. It sat warm in the cast iron while we ate dinner and it was warm and great when served as dessert.

That was my first thought. Cast iron rusts pretty easily....salt water seems risky especially when out with booze, friends, and no particular place to be...

The recipe is similar to "vita mix" ice cream...

I taught school for 32 years and one of my certifications is Reading and Spelling. There has been some discussion within education circles that the english language is overly difficult because of the way we spell our words. Who ever heard of a "P" sounding like an "F" or letters that have no sound at all. One suggestion is that we should rewrite the dictionary so that all words are spelled phonetically. I think Slow is just way ahead of his time. Keep it up Slow I love the way your inventive mind works and I truely hope that I get to meet you in person some day.

I went to school to be a teacher. I did not become one for various reasons but I did however manage to end up with a Liberal Studies degree with an emphasis in Literature. the funny thing is I did 5 years of serious amounts of reading and writing in our weird language. I still to this day had to look up (emphasis and Literature) when I wrote the second sentence. I have never been good at spelling and it seems by now that I will never be.

There is a good book about this subject called "Crazy English".

Ahem....

But you also have to know if spell check is actually supplying "correct" word, not just spelling "a word correctly'... To quick to accept "a correctly spelled word"can also get you into trouble....
