Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I purchased a Vintage #7 CRESCENT Cast Iron WAFFLE IRON Fanner Mfg. CO. Clevand OH. From E-bay. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... OC:US:3160 ) I lucked out and got it for 23.59 plus shipping and handling 18.51. I have never heard of this brand, but then I never heard of Griswold, or Wagner until I went to IRG III' I was only familer with Lodge. Does anyone know of this brand? I am just courious. I tried looking it up online but only found that the owners of the company was murdered during a robbery. (http://ech.case.edu/ech-cgi/article.pl?id=SMC3)

The seller states that he had cleaned it up and coated it with lard but will need to be seasoned. The pic looks like it had barely been used. Suppose to have been manufactured in the early 1900s. Guess I will find out.

Received my waffle maker. Looks great. I seasoned it and tried it out this morning. Burnt my first waffle royally, but after that they turned out great.

Very nice waffle iron; low base, wire handles-nice. Have not seen one of this brand; I collect the Stover brand irons mfg in Freeport, IL. High base, low base, wood handles, and wire handles; and in two sizes plus a child's size

If you google Fanner mfg co, a good bit of information seems to be available on the Crescent iron

Any serious cast iron collector have any source for values on a Stover Waffer iron? Not waffle, but waffer, has low relief design cast into plates.

I purchased a Stover waffle iron set off of e bay early in my teardrop infancy. I got the mother daughter set with the 8 - 9 (??) one and the childs 2-3"(?) one.



One thing I have learned using the big waffle iron is to coat it with spray oil and wait till it is hot enough to start smoking then respray and pour in the mix. It you try and add the batter to the cool to just warm iron you will be prying out that non skid pancake out with a toothpick.

I have a griz 8 inch and a wagner 9 inch that are great but I also have a Cresent 8 in that makes the best ones. It is my main Iron and I only use the others when I cook for about 40 boy scouts and leaders.

Slow, go back up a couple of posts and read Bobhenry's hints. You already know he knows what he is talking about when it comes to cooking with cast iron. My first waffle stuck to my iron because I forgot to respray after heating the iron. Once I got that one picked out (bamboo skewers work better than tooth picks), the others came out clean. just respray for each waffle.
