Our Daughter with some coaching from me made her first Dump Cake in the Griswold DO.

Dawnika made a cherry and pineapple dump cake. Yellow cake mix, pineapple juice, ginger ale, chunks of canned pineapple and dark cherry pie filling.

This was set out on the napoleon six burner grill on low....cooked for about 20 - 30 minutes!! :)

Wow when she brought it in it was gorgeous!! the Batter was golden and risen just perfect.

She was so proud and got lots of compliments from the family. :applause: :applause:

i will grab a picture of the remaining results, I think half of it is still there.

Boy oh Boy it was Delicious!!

So, you're converting your daughter into a trailer/CO/camping lover too!
It must be a catch-able disease. ;)

I am all about share the knowledge!!

My Son Evan it is helping set up camp and tearing down...all things fire. He is a boy scout but there is plenty to learn. Not that I know much, but paid attention when my dad and step dad took us out.

Dawnika likes to please and share the results, lots of praise...but hopping they take a liking for doing some of these things so they can have fun with it as well.

Shady,
Dump apple pie filling in DO, dump on the yellow cake mix, pour the root beer on top, and DO NOT MIX. Mine turned out great! Although our favorite was Mercy's Blue Berry Cobbler. It's more work, and a lot more ingredients. The recipe is in the T&TTT cookbook on page #92. It's the one with the sugar cookie base, cream cheese and canned blue berries (not pie filling). I made it once and took to a pot luck at a rally. I never got to try it. They ate it ALL! So I had to make again next weekend at a family gathering. It was fantastic. Dang now i'm hungry for it.

Thanks Dawn for the receipe  on the root beer apple dump. we will definitely give that a try up next.

Of course a scoop of French Vanilla always goes well with Root Beer??  :applause: :applause:

The Blueberry Cream cheese...oh my now I am drooling here at work...need to take a step backwards.

Take your favorite pineapple upside down cake recipe and simply substitute the bananas for the pineapple.

OK OK !

Here is one real close to what I used.

http://baking.about.com/od/upsidedowncakes/r/Double-Upside-Down-Cake.htm

If you go the rum route I would suggest a good DARK rum.

And use a dutch oven liner well spray oiled to make it release so it will come out real pretty.

P.S. My gal pal Nancy won the dutch oven cook off with this recipe at the 2013 CRA Gathering!

Thanks! I meant that it was a face slap kind of moment, I should have figured out the just substitute without bugging you lol. Me and the girls did the basic apple this weekend to let them play with the DO.. 13 year old loved cooking "old fashioned" :) it turned out good. Would have been better but they were impatient and it wasn't entirely done lol

I'll give that one a try it looks awesome
