Help id a waffle iron and long griddle?

A friend just sent me a couple of pieces of iron. I had been looking for a waffle iron for awhile. Anyway the pieces he sent are very cool but I was hoping you folks could help me identify them and answer a quick question.

The waffle iron has just an 8 on the top center of both sides with no other numbers or letters. I found one similar on ebay with only slight differences and no more info. Its got markings like a deck of cards.

The griddle only has an 8 near one handle. The other handle was broken by UPS in typical UPS style. What's the best method of reattachment and can anyone identify this one as well?

And just for giggles, here is a pic from me cooking a hamburger on my home made wood stove while camping in the backyard a couple of nights ago.

Your best bet to fix that handle,

Take it to a welding shop and have them TRY to weld it back together.

I'm trying to find someone local that knows what brazing is. Apparently its becoming a lost art.

It can be welded with pre and post heat (to prevent uneven heating/cooling that causes cracks), and by using special high nickel rod.

If it doesn't work it is not the end of the world. That is a great griddle and would be a pleasure to cook on w/ or w/o the handle. If no go on the repir, I would consider cutting the stub off and fairing it in. It would look less broken that way.

I unfortunately only have a mig or I would try it myself. I did see a YouTube video of someone successfully repairing a pan with a mig but he never said if he was using gas or flux core. I don't have gas either. I'll do some more calling around I guess and hope someone has some experience or like you suggested, grind that end down and use it as is.

If not check with some of the other TN folks and see if they know any old welders, you might be surprised and they can send you to someone that knows how to do it.

I busted the large, cast iron, yoke on the back of my cement mixer last month. I brazed it up with no problem. If I wasn't all the way on the left coast, I'd be happy to fix it for you

How hot do you have to get to braze? I'm tempted to try it myself if I can find someone with a decent torch.
