I have 8" and 6" DOs, I've prepared food same as in the bigger sizes, just less of it. Since there are only the two of us it's more than enough. I use the 6" for biscuits/rolls or dessert to accompany the meal in the 8". They work great when stacked and fewer briquets needed and a shorter cook time is needed too. Biggest problem is the 6" doesn't have a handle for the DO hook, it has to be removed by hand with gloves.

I have those sizes too. Just one of me and they makes a lot of food. I've read somewhere that you can drill out the tab on the 6" and make a lift hole, but I don't think I'll try it. :frightened:

Desert for two. Slice a couple of apples, add butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook till soft, sprinkle a few Redhots on top, let em melt and chow down.

You can cut down the recipe for a "coupa" to a "halfa coupa" Thats milk , sugar and selfrising flour mixed up and pored into either simmering peaches, apples, black berries, or any other fruit with the liquid in the can plus butter pats on top.

another is put two pieces of chicken in a well oiled pan add a handful of rice and a can of cream of mushroom soup mixed with a can of water .

just cut down the 8 inch ingredients to one half.

Randy did drill a hole through the tab on the top , then we put a split ring keyring through the hole to make a handle for lifting with the usual lid lifter.

I use mine for a few frozen bread rolls. Put them in when you leave the house the first night and the are ready to cook at dinner time. I also make a very small dump

Not sure, but I think she means " cuppa" as in "cuppa sugar" would be reduced to "half cuppa sugar".

When baking apples, you can use as little sugar as you want. We used to simply core the apples and put a tablespoon of brown sugar and a teaspoon of butter in the hole left by the core. Then, we would sprinkle cinnamon over the tops of the apples according to our tastes. Redhots are definitely optional. We never used them (but I've heard they are good!). You can also use a raw sugar, such as Sucanat, which tends to be a little less sweet and a tad better for you; or use some agave syrup instead. Agave has a very low glycemic index and is considered safe for diabetics. If you slice the apples, you would simply sprinkle everything (or drizzle the syrup) that you want over the top of the slices. Real maple syrup also makes a nice substitute. Again, it's up to you, how much sweetener you use. If you use too much, you'll have a hard time getting rid of the too-sweet taste; but, if you use too little, you can always add more sweetener, later.

Why don't you simply start by baking a few biscuits or a shortcake in your little DO, to try it out? Or, simply take any 12" DO recipe and half all the ingredients, adjusting the recipe to your tastes.
