It looks like something sold to put scented or citronella candles in- for folks who really want to be safe and the wind won't blow the wick out.

Went to my favorite store yesterday and an old cast iron chicken fryer with lid found me.

So I went looking for some info to help identify it....

http://www.castironcollector.com/unmarked.php

The 10" extra deep fryer has the drip top lid with the little stalactites hanging down from the lid.
The bottom has a heat ring indicating the 30's 40's ???? (maybe)
The heat ring is interrupted at 9 o clock 12 o clock and 3 o clock with the handle in the down position.
I know early unmarked lodge skillets had this vented heat ring.
My question is did any other manufactures mimic this little design quirk ?
If not I may have a very early unmarked lodge chicken fryer.

Oh the best part $9.99 at my very favorite store (GoodWill)

UPDATE:

Took the chicken fryer and simply washed it up and oiled it. Made a super simple cherry and red devils food dump cake this weekend. I was told I was to take the left overs home with me when I left. Well packing up it was not difficult because between the two of us it was GONE. It was real nice that the drip top lid happened to fit the standard skillet I had previously found for my gal pal. So I left my new acquisition in her care having been tested and highly approved. Being old school this chicken fryer is as smooth as a baby's butt and was a breeze to clean up. I love the old iron.
