Quart sizes inch size Dos

I bought a new do today . I wanted a 8 inch but my sporting goods store o ly had dos in quart size I ended up with a 3 quart do. It's a hair smAller than a 8 inch lid they headed spare ones in inches but no Dutch ovens in inches so what's the difference quarts vs inches in dos??? Slow

Plans. there was supposed to be plans to be followed when I built this thing. Opps! AH, gee, tum,tee tum. I think I forgot about the plans 2 years ago. ------Tow vehicles, 1995 ford explore, 1994 ford ranger, 1993 ford F-150, 2009 4x9 Off road teardrop, on harbor freight greatly modified frame.

I believe a 3 quart is a typical 8" DO. But there are deep versions of some DO , so a 12" could be a 6 or 8 quart and still be a 12" , depending on the depth.
