Mike, do you have a charcoal chimney? They are cheap at Wal-Mart - $12.99 I think. You can light a lot of charcoal at once using paper as your fuel source. Once they are ash white, pour them out and start a new batch as needed.

Take a couple tomato juice sized cans and cut out the top. Take a can piercer and puncture around the sides and the bottom. (you might add a few holes with a drill the bigger the better) Fill them with charcoal and set them on the camp stove burners.

Ok, understand now. There are several things you can do. One is make a wind-shield from corrugated tin, old license plates or sheet metal...make it wide enough to fit around the DO. Lots of ideas on the internet. I have a DO hood that I can adjust the air flow. Kinda looks like a giant cake-cover. Works great.

I just put my DO in my Gas Grill and close the lid. The DO sits in a metal cake pan or other metal pan inside the grill.

Coffee can works for me... Not the plastic ones...
