Nor Cal Campfire Thread

Postby campmaster-k » Thu Mar 21, 2013 3:10 pm

I am just trying this as an experiment. If it works great if not, no big deal. The other campfires on this forum are well attended and I just thought that maybe we here in the Northern part of California could have a little campfire. Now I am not saying its just for those in Nor Cal just based in Nor Cal. Many active members on this forum are from this area so we will see if I can get some more activity in the Jefferson State posting area.

Just for starters I just landed two of the biggest and most awesome zero gravity chairs from Cabelas. You will witness these chairs at the Dam Gathering. Mary and I will be perched in our chairs with mummy bags unable to move from all the great food at the dam, It will be glorious. Now these are not the average zero gravity chairs. These go all the way back to flat so one can sleep on it! So it is possible that I may never even make it into my tear.

For those of you who are interested in high end coolers I have a new Yeti 75 and I will have it at the Dam . Please feel free to come by and check it out . It is truly awesome.

We, well I, plan on doing alot of camping this summer and I hope you all do the same.

Anything goes in a campfire thread so post what ever you want . Cool camp gear, new flea finds, camp food, places to go and things to see in the area etc.

I will bump this thread up here for awhial to see it there is interest in this thread.

I am in the Main dish category. I have not figured out what I will cook yet. I think I might do a sausage and beef meatloaf. Or maybe a baked ziti with a ton of sausage in it. Maybe some lamb in there. :o

Maybe some pulled pork.

Maybe some braised lamb shanks. Or short ribs smothered in red wine gravy. And butter.

Or a nice slow cooked beef bourguignon.

I wonder how that would be with a bunch of sweat Italian sausage in it? Well, maybe not, but slow cooked beef bourguignon sounds pretty good.

Looking forward to coverage of the pine car derby.

I did Beef Bourguignon a couple of time in the Dutch Oven. Killer both times. That is a great suggestion KC I might just do that. I will do a trial this weekend.

When my mother did Beef Bougonugion she always put it over wide egg noodles. I always do it over white rice.

Sounds good to me either way!

I wouldn't refuse it if it came on a big ole pile of mashed potatoes, either!

..or even just in a bowl with some toast.

Why am I so suddenly hungry?

Got one granddaughter due the 28th and one may 5. What kind planning is that? The first one will be a section on april 23rd so we really only have to worry about one. We are in the side dish do i am thinking maple yams. I made them Friday last year and they were very popular.

I'll bring the same thing I bring to all pot luck dinners - BEER.

I'm planning to bring 3 different beers this year - the DAM Red Ale that was such a hit last year, my Dark Mild so I can have a "session beer" at <3% alcohol, and either a Porter or an IPA. I haven't decided on the last one yet.

Five gallons of each should hold me, and a few friends for a couple of days
