Doug, what a great idea! And if anyone needs extra mantles for the lantern burn, there you go.

How about a convening of the Grey Haired Sisterhood?

Postby nevadatear » Tue Apr 10, 2012 12:33 pm

I would love to get together with other women who have thrown off the mantle of (current) conventionalism that "grey hair makes you look old" and are letting their true silver mantle shine through because they know what color your hair is has nothing to do with how old (or young as it may be) you are. This convening could also include those who are considering "coming out" :D but need a little support in this youth-focused and keep-the-dye-companies-rich society! Anyone interested?

Debbie,
I would be happy to get together as one who has some grey hair.
I can't say that I threw the "mantle" off, as I never put it on in the first place. I've never dyed my hair, I just never wanted to go down that road.

These days with the job market being tough, I can understand why some women would need to dye their hair as some employers age discriminate. For this same reason I presume, some men dye their hair as well.

I gave up the dye after years of all kinds of colors, I LOVED changing my hair color, but one day it dawned on me that I looked like pepey le pew every two weeks, and that was the end of that.

So....just to bump this whole thing, and all kidding aside...I'm not doing any table dances mostly since there isn't a cocktail table that will hold me, or are any other of the guys that would be willing. I'm also pretty sure that there aren't going to be any ladies wanting to do a wet T contest.... So....what's on the agenda, and let's maybe nail it down. Yeah...I know It's about "activities for the chicks" and I'm not a chick, at least I wasn't last time I checked...but that was about a week ago.

Walking quilt and fiber arts tour through the participating trailers.
Afternoon tea.
Maskibition?
card/word game/ bunco sessions
Square dancing
laugh yoga

What else? If some ideas could be ironed out...then Joanie could put it on the schedule and she could let others know what's up and when. Some planning now helps out with limiting mayhem later. Doug

Thanks for bumping this.. I agree that a plan would be good, and would help Joanie out. I'm game for any of the stuff you listed.
No problem if you're not a chick, horseshoes and Dutch oven cooking aren't just for guys, either.

Doug, I am up for any of those. My father was a square dance caller so I grew up square dancing and did so for the first 30 years of my life. Haven't done anything for the last 20, but wouldn't mind a square or two, as long as it was basic, or what they used to call "mainstream." I know I remember that stuff but don't know anything new. Have we a caller amongst us?

I would LOVE to do a call. My favorite is "Oh, Johnny" and it is a circle all hands dance, very easy. And I do the :Salty Dog Rag", plus I have a great old call book. The Virginia Reel, The Cheating Dance (Skoal).

Cocktails and cards,anyone?
Oh, wait, I just turned into my parents, may they rest in peace. Wonderful people, becoming them wouldn't be a bad thing.

Maybe as we get closer, people can express their level of interest and hopefully, some organizers will step up.

Many years ago I opened up the garage door, pushed the gas lawn mower out, saw the station wagon we just bought to haul the kids around in, and realized,to my horror, Cathy and I had become our parents. It's inevitable...
Cocktails and cards would actually be my grand parents, so let's be different and skip the cards... :FNP

And Doug's not organizing anything because he'll be to busy working on everyone's Coleman...

Birds anyone? Randy and I would be willing to lead a bird walk one morning. We will be doing it anyway, so if anyone wants to come along.Bring your binoculars.
