October 9-12, 2009 Ocean Cove, CALIFORNIA
Cam's 13th Cool Coastal Cowpatty Campout (C5XIII) is moving up the coast a bit, to Ocean Cove Campgrounds, in Ocean Cove, CA, on world-famous CA Hwy 1, 18 miles north of Jenner, CA (at the mouth of the Russian River). Since no more cows will be involved, it will now be known as Cam's Cool Coastal Cliffside Campout, so it will retain the C5 abbreviation. Same time of year, same great bunch of campers (and more are always welcome!), same laid back atmosphere & attitude, but this campground has trees, happier hosts, clean porta-johns, and even a real shower house (and less $$ per nite!), not to mention a convenience store across the street ... you might have to drive a ways to find a beach, though! Spectacular views, abalone diving (if you like that sort of thing), and something a bit different along more of the wild Northern California Coast. No reservations, first-come/first serve (although there'll be plenty of room!), however, we ask that you let David A. know if you plan on coming: [email protected]
Hope to see you there!

Oh boy, that's a 4 day weekend for me(sorry, county worker) and I was thinking of heading out on the road for a little trip. This just might be the ticket.
No teardrop yet, just the plans and ideas in my head, still.
This fall just might be the start up though.
Have tent, DO and booze..will travel.
Giddy-yup,

While thread-surfing, this one brings back memories-my first trip to California. It was summer of 72, my wife and I (BC-before children), a 1965 Mustang, camping gear in the trunk and back seat, 10 days off work, and getting out of Utah. We toured Reno, camped at Lake Tahoe, toured Nampa Valley and Sonoma, camped at the Armstrong Redwoods, and followed the Russian River to just north of Jenner. Then down the coast to San Francisco and on to camping at Yosemite and Sequoia. From Sequoia through Bakersfield, Barstow, The Ghost Town of Calico, to Las Vegas-couple nights in a casino/hotel. Then back to Ogden, Utah with pictures and stories to tell-it was a good time. I would love to make this gathering, but I don't think I can do it this year.

We are planning on making it. Haven't had much of a chance of camping this year and none in the northern part of CA.

Our plan is to head up on Thursday as it is a long drive from Santa Barabara area. If Google says almost 8 hours, with a trailer it must be closer to 9 or so depending on traffic and stops.

Is anyone else planning on camping on Thursday night? Or is there a part of the campground that is a favorite where everyone likes to camp? We've never been there before.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Martha ;)
