Kenny and I found a great campground near Port Orford. There is river fishing, ocean fishing, jet boat rides and a lot more.
spoke to the mister but have to call the wife to make reservations.
Mark your calendar. We will double up in the sites but they are big with lots of room. Will post more info when reservations are made.

Dear Eunice,

Thank you for the post.

I am really trying to plan next summer. Adam and Kate are graduating university on the same weekend. One in Santa Barbara and the other in Santa Cruz. June 12th. Guess I will be all over California and Oregon next year. Certainly going back to Applegate and waiting for Dean and Joannie to set the IRG 3.0 before deciding whether to have another Applegate Gathering. The full moons are late in the month this year...on the 26th of the month.
Regards,

Guy

Anyone going to Gold Beach from I-5 might enjoy the Bear Camp road over to Gold Beach 8) .....it's paved all the way now and a super cool drive over the mountains.....Much shorter than taking 199 to Crescent City and up. If interested, I can give detailed instructions

Just looked up Secret Campground and looks great. Might even brave the snow here and head down there for a weekend. Just looked at my post, I am really a dummy as usual, there is not any snow at Secret Campground that time of year. DAH :? Wrong campground

Just DON'T take Bear camp road in the winter...Too dangerous due to snow slides. Kay

Dear Eunice,

Is this site right on the river or is the river a drive/walk away?

Guy, the campground is across the street from the river...a nice short walk. Also, something that's happening in the area during that weekend is the annual Pistol River Wave Bash. 8) It's a windsurfing competition with some real big names at this one.
Also, June is the tail end of Spring Chinook (or King Salmon) on the Rogue so bring your fishin' pole.

A note on fishing if anyone is interested...

March-June: Spring chinook (or king) salmon are caught between Gold Beach and Agness (2 to 35 miles upriver). Similar to fall chinook, these "springers" are in peak physical condition as they leave the cold waters of the Pacific and come into the Rogue system in search of their spawning grounds. Known for their mouth-watering flavor, spring chinook range in size from 10 to 40+ pounds.

If anyone is looking for a guide....I would call Jots Resort....ask for Sam Waller....and tell him Kay sent you....he owns the resort and one of the best fishermen on the Rogue.

Here are Sam Waller’s lucky 7 top tips to keep in your mind’s tackle box when fishing for springers. :applause:

1. When the river comes up and muddies up, that’s usually the precursor of the first springer,â€
