that same trip was in bike magazine 2 months ago. it took that long to stop daydreaming about tossing it all, and running off to the alaskan frontier, thanks for reminding me...

Surly has another Fat Bike coming out also. The Moonlander. New tires.. one a 4.5" and a new 100mm rim. :twisted: :twisted:

that sounds like a 4.5" suspension travel/full rigid bike... now that is custom. i can't imagine what bombing a hill on one of them is like!

I have the current Pugs with the 4" tires.. and while it is a blast to bomb hills, it is a challenge. Tire suspension is no where near what "real" suspension is.

They of course roll over things like a 29er would, and they are more stable. The heavy wheels and tires don't get knocked off line so much.

I can descend faster and with much more comfort and control,with my 29er FSR.

With the new bigger tires, they are really after more float, in soft conditions.

i've been kicking around the idea of building one for the winter for a few years now, this might have to be the year.. watch, i'll build a fat tire bike and it will never snow here again
