My goodness that is absolutely gorgeous. A lot of work in that one. Where did you get the pattern?

thanks Miriam...it's just a pineapple block I got out off EQ 7 program...stuck on a couple of inner borders and then did up a braid outer border on it. The black border was trimmed down to allow the outer border to fit so that the mitered corners would match up on an even piece.

I'm thinking I will get this one actually quilted and finished up for a trailer. Too much work in it to not have it done. Doug

After a 6 year hiatus, I finally got back into quilting.

Helen, my best friend for 42 years, passed away in 2005. Her first grandchild was born this past February. I made this quilt for Emerson Kate in memory of Helen Frances.

It's a Broken Star, my favorite pattern, that's 30 x 30 in yellow and lavender.

I'm already planning my next quilt. It's been too long since I was this excited about them.

Well done Judy....that's a beauty! You did put your name and date on the back of it didn't you? That's important....too many people don't do that and the history of the quilt is lost. Your quilt is something that they will keep for life. Nice of you to do that in her memory. Doug

Thanks, Doug. I thought I had killed this thread.

I always stitch my name and year into the back of my quilts. It's usually not very noticable. On this one I also added a label in the corner..."Sewn for Emerson Kate in memory of Helen Frances"...

Years ago, a friend asked me to make quilts for his two kids. His grandmother had died before she got ones made for his children. I've always wondered if he tried to pass them off as Grandma's work. But my name is on them.

This Broken Star is the most intricate work I've made at this scale and only the third or fourth I've made at this size. I'm totally sold. I now love small quilts on so many levels. Just handling a small quilt is easier. Ironing is easier. Hand quilting is easier and so much faster. And it's cuter.

I'm about finished with my next one. A Bow Tie. I scaled a 12" block down to 3". It's just the cutest thing!!

Judy, I'm currently working on a tumbling block thing, with a log cabin center pieced in each side of the block in 8 colors. I like the 3D stuff. I still have 1 row to go and then the borders. Had to take a break from it. I hate Y seams...and I'm too deep into it now to quit.

Glad to hear that you got re-inspired. Your work is great! Doug

I'm on a roll!

Bow Tie 33x33, bow ties are in a 3" block.

I still need to do more quilting in the center panel, but need to think about it some. Meantime, I've finished the blocks for another small scale quilt.

The Broken Star was given to Emerson Kate last Saturday. Both parents noticed I used their school colors. HAH!! How lucky was that? I didn't even know ECUs colors.

I made this as a full size quilt about 15 years ago. I gave it to a friend for his kids. I didn't photograph it but kept the graph drawing I did for it.

I'm not sure if this is my design or if I saw it somewhere. It's the second quilt I've pieced on paper. Don't like that method.

I've got the next one perking, but I need to give my aching hands a rest.

Thanks Jazzy. I have so much fabric left from decades past that I need to use. But I go into a store and the new patterns and colors get me so excited. I just keep buying more.

I don't know the name of this pattern Anyone? I have named mine ...

Sunny Stars 30x30

Inspite of all the new storage space with my new cabinets, I need more. This is a simple solution. They look nice on top of things or just stacked on the floor. I bought them on eBay for a reasonable price. However, because of the size, it was about $15 more for shipping.

Image

Got many more I want to do. However, my hands hurt so bad when I start the hand quilting that I'm just going to do enough to hold it together for now. There are lots of cold winter evenings to come that I can pull one out and work on it. Right now, my hands need a rest. That means no more computer solitaire either.

Because of all the straight lines in Sunrise, I did do some machine quilting. I'm not partial to it.

Doug, What a fabulous quilt you made!

Judy, You have been busy and I love your quilts too!

I finally finished a crib quilt for my great nephew. He just turned a year old.

This year has been a busy year for babies in my family. I have 3 more baby quilts planed, 2 for girls and 1 for a boy.

Now I just have to get them done, but time just seems to disappear.

You all do some amazing work! I'm having a friend of mine do a quilt for my teardrop, with the same fabric that my mom made my new curtains from. I hope it turns out half as nice as some of the quilts in this thread!

Doug - that pineapple one is definitely an eye-catcher!
