Hi Darla! Welcome to the forum! I grew up in northwestern Wisconsin but now live in Utah. My sisters still live there - one is just up the road from you in Hayward and the other is near Medford. Sounds like you've got the support of your kids and dad on this teardrop build - I'm sure your husband will come around eventually

Have fun!

Hi,
Like Amy, I've been waiting for the NW rain to stop long enough to work on my teardrop. I'm not very far along yet...just painting the chassis.
Thanks for all of the inspiration. Hope to finish one day.

Hey Kris,

It only took me three years to get mine to the place where I could camp in it. You have plenty of time....

Hi Joanne,
Your trailer might have taken three years to build but it turned out great. I really appreciate how you have documented and shared the progress.
I will probably camp "on" my trailer in the driveway, just as soon as I attach the floor.
Thanks for the encouragement.

I'll jump in here with the rest of the ladies!

I'm in awesome company with all the builders. I am happy to report that I bought my trailer (Little Lulu) on eBay, and freak out at the idea of attacking her with drills, screwdrivers, or saws! altho I've come to realize that a few modifications are in order...that's what some of my friends are for!

as i looked thru my album, I hardly have any pics of the trailer...will have to add some more but here's one for starters.

Have met some of you, hope to meet more in Minden!

I'm glad you jumped in! It's about having the "Teardrop Spirit" not whether you built your own or not. I built mine because I was too poor to buy one! I think your tear is really cute and if I build another, it's going to be a lot like the one you have.

Stick around, it's fun to have you here!

Joanne

I built mine too, for that reason Joanne..... couldn't afford to buy one, didn't want to buy a different vehicle to tow something else, don't need to sleep 6 people in a pop up , and mine is certainly not the craftsmanship of Doug Hottie or Sonetpro but I love my Jewel !!!

Hi all. I'm a newbie. Met Jeanette in Hanksville. What a great trailer!

Wow! I grew up in Grand View, WI...some of my fondest memories are of going to the Wilderness Walk in Hayward with my Grandparents. I live in Montana now and have just begun. I'll post pics when I have something to show.

hi ladies!
i came across your thread this morning and loved reading about everyone building their td. my hubby and i bought an oldie off ebay because i wanted one after watching the famous "rv crazy" show two years ago. i'm not into the building part but i do the finishing jobs. i love to look for things for my td at antique markets. ;)
was never big into camping....... something about sleeping on hard ground it just doesn't work for me  .... but the td was a great thing and now i look forward to going out with it and meeting with other teardroppers.
i also hope to meet other ladies in minden. does anyone in the crowd love to quilt or do other artsy fartsy things?

Ealier in this thread I posted that I was working on mine. Well...it's done...not finished, but campable. Took it out for a 2-week trip a few weeks ago...posted pictures in another thread...
But, I wanted to let all the awesome women here know that I did it!! :D :applause:

It's so awesome to have one that you built yourself and I'm so proud of myself and all the other women here.

See you in Minden!!

Thanks...

I'm working on some storage ideas to replace the crates...actually bought some plastic drawers that fit pretty nicely. Winter project will be to build cabinets.

But...it sure is fun now! Heading out with Pam after work to meet my dad at Wilson Lake in Kansas. He has a big 5th wheel...I told him not to get jealous when everyone wants to look at my camper and not his!
