We need a ChickBuilt logo and design for our TD's

This is where the gals can have their very own discussions...

Postby oklahomajewel » Tue Oct 07, 2008 7:18 pm

I remember when the term came up before it was something to with us that built or mostly built ours... so changing some wording would be idea. One version for those that built & camp, and others if they want just the teardropper part.

I personally don't mind the chickbuilt name, has a ring to it.
I like Mark's lady with the saw too .

does cafepress have an option for a bumper sticker? something intended for sticker on a car? and will not fade, etc?

WOW what a response to this!!!

Yes, CafePress stickers are UV resistant and are made for outdoor use.

Love the graphic but the "Fem-built" brought to mind the Bionic Woman's mechanical foes: the Fem-bots.

I'm a feminist not keen on "fem."

But thanks much for the effort.

I really like your original. i think it really embodies what i would look for in a sticker..shirt...whatever..that i wanted to show off.

i personally have no issues with calling myself a "chick" so that on the image would cool too.

I'm okay with "chick," too. Obviously.

When push comes to shove I prefer "Chick or Chik" to "Fem". I like Dean's design and also the woman with the tools but would a.) hold off until we determine a specifc name and b.) like to see a few more designs.... Love the bumper sticker and tee-shirt plans. Then we can all wear them in the future Lady Teardropper/Builder??? photo's!!!

wow--did I pick the wrong night to crash at 7:30!

Julie, you are not dreaming, and I bet I can even find the post. BTW, I think it was 'Chik-built' or 'Chik-bilt' but even I am not totally sure about which letters got dropped. It was shortly before a pic of a bunch of women at a gathering, each holding a signature hot-pink tool. I especially remember someone who had a hot-pink heavy duty extension cord (because i *want* one!)

Mary K--I like yours...and Dean, I like yours, too. I kinda want both choices. ;)

I bought--didn't build from the ground up. But I have never felt excluding because I didn't build, or because technically mine isn't a tear (it's a vintage TTT that a man can't stand up in...but a short woman can!) I've done some work on mine and this winter will be doing a lot more--it needs new wiring, I want to build a solar-charged 12v system for it, it needs new seam seals, some work on the exterior, and the whole back storage panel floor needs replaced.) i think we all end up modifying and spending time maintaining what we camp in, whether we drive it to the paint shop to have it custom colored, or have a personal sawdust and/or welding investment. So I feel part of 'built,' however we spell it.

I guess my response to 'chick' has evolved over time.
I've gotten to the place where in the right circumstances, calling myself or being called a 'chick' is cool--gotta admit, *hated* it in my 20s. Now, it's kinda like getting carded or proofed, or being mistaken for the youngest in my family instead of the oldest--it makes my whole day!

OK, after much research, I think this is the picture that was originally posted by SamR (page 10 of the 'Lady Teardroppers' thread:

And this pic is on page 13:

Here's a slightly 'cleaned up' version:

So, nobody will feel left out and most aren't going to be hurt or insulted.

You've convinced this antique chick.

I have had so much to do lately (and especially today), that's not even funny. :fb

Johnny that is cute. On my screen the "chikbuilt" has smeared.
Dean did a great job but I am not fond of "fem".

I agree with Pam. Wait until we pick a name.
Are there other designs waiting to come out? It would be nice to see several.
