Looking for cloth with trailers

Postby Lit'l Shinee » Sat Sep 05, 2009 8:08 pm

I know lots of guys sew stuff but thought I would post on this part of the forum since usually, there are more ladies than men who sew.

I have looked in all the cloth stores within a 50 mile radius of where I live and cannot find any place that has cloth with trailers on it. They have every other thing under the sun but not one single piece of what I am looking for. It would be nice if it had teardrops on it but I would be willing to settle for any type of trailer on some good quality material.

Can any of you recommend places or websites where I could find some?

Thanks much,

Shinee

Shinee, You need to talk to Doug. He has a quilt shop and usually has what you are looking for. http://tnttt.com/profil ... file&u=454

Your local quilt shops should be a good place for fun stuff.

Call around to some of the independent fabric stores and ask if they have "Happy Campers" from Clothworks. It's the latest one out and has a ton of fun vintage campers on it. It can be tough to get...the first run sold out immediately, they ran it again and I know we have sold out again. There typically isn't a lot of the camping fabric in a collection like this one is. Google Clothworks to check out what the collection looks like. Doug

Found this on Etsy...
It's in her sold items, but the seller will probably be relisting more shortly, as its a popular item. She has other camp fabric, too, and some neat items for sale.

You can also just send her a message through her shop...

Also quite a few fabrics with VW campers on Etsy as well. A search on Etsy's home page will bring up a few.

There is also a Happy Camper fabric collection by Richard Neuman, but it can be hard to find in stock.

Yes, I agree. I won't be shooting the lock off of my wallet for a yard of that stuff any time soon, but I figured I'd throw it out there. :lady:

Personally, I would buy a TD stamp like this one and fashion my own.

Try this website...

www.fabricshack.com

I got some dragonfly stuff there, but she had some camp stuff listed for more reasonable prices.

I was in a quilt store yesterday, and didn't see any 'trailer' fabric, but did see a pattern for a Route 66 quilt. Had a teardrop on it. Very Cute! I don't like to applique, or I would have jumped on it.
One pattern was for all Route 66 I believe, then also 'state' ones. Like the Oklahoma one had tourist things from Route 66 in Oklahoma on it, such as The Round Barn of Arcadia, and the Big Blue Whale from near Catoosa.

I wonder if she would do one from a picture? She says that she makes the stamps up herself. Hmmmm, sounds like another good way to get a disinterested wife into the project.

For me, I am the wife trying to get the non-handyman husband into the job.

on the way to finding this I came up with
http://happycamperwines.com cute picture of a tear?

As suggested a rubber stamp is an idea and you might want to have a custom stamp made of your teardrop.

I like that rubber stamp idea. Especially since I already have 5 stamps of various VWs. Will have to dig them out.
