Gray Haired Sisterhood

This is where the gals can have their very own discussions...

My two cents worth. Personally, some of the most attractive ladies I know have beautiful grey hair. A " mature" ladie with perfect dark hair does not even look right to me. Just my opinion! Ronnie

thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a nice day. Glad to see some new sisters on here and also comments from the guys. I am OK with the natural look and agree that I have earned every one of my Platinum hairs. :D

Eunice, you and I were born on the same day. I turned gray at 35 yrs old. Full head of hair but totally silver.

Just so you know, it is not just your opinion, research out there actually supports you, that men really don't care, and that men don't think women look younger with non-grey hair. It is women who THINK men care, or think they look younger. Oh, yeah, and hairdressers. They really want you to think grey hair is bad. From a platinum haired 53 year old. (I too turned grey in my 20s).

Great book (I know I mentioned it before, but it bears repeating) "Going Gray: What I Learned about Beauty, Sex, Work, Motherhood, Authenticity, and Everything Else That Really Matters" by Anne Kreamer.

Been lurking awhile. I too am going grey. I actually don't mind. Hair is healthy and I like it. Though I will admit to colouring it while I was job hunting. Was really too expensive to keep up. :)

Firmly stuck in the salt/pepper stage. Some days if the light is right my former color shines through on other days, not so much. ;)

I love all the new comments. I have decided that I like the platinum/silver idea. I am going to have to get a pic and post it, I just hate having my pic taken. I am going to read that book "going gray"! Merry Christmas to all the grayhaired sisters.

And same to you all. My avatar was 4 years ago, so I am even more platinum, though I still have some light brown in the back. Not quite all white yet, I guess still in the salt and pepper stage, though more salt than peeper! Hope everyone has a "white" Christmas. Embrace your natural self! :wine: :beautiful:

Have achieved platinum level myself

Postby Blumie » Mon Dec 19, 2011 5:11 pm

My husband expressed great relief when I "gave up the bottle" and quit coloring. He didn't enjoy the stink.

Joanie's got the idea: this is the PLATINUM level of life! That goes with a motto seen on a friend's refrigerator door: "Those aren't hot flashes, they're power surges!"

With so many new folks on the board, I thought I would revive this thread. Any of the sisterhood going to be at the 'Dam or IRG? I will be at both and look forward to a "gray haired sisterhood" get-together!.

I'm old enough, but my hair isn't gray, can I still be a part of the sisterhood? I was planning on going to the Dam, but can't make it. Definitely going to IRG, can't wait!

Well, Maureen, I have enough of the silver for both of us! It's the attitude that matters, not the reality. Accepting yourself for where you are in life and not focused on "looking younger." What is so wrong about looking your age? I earned it after all. :D

Welcome to the sisterhood! I agree it is more of an attitude than the actual gray hair. I will be at the DAM and IRG gatherings. Cant wait to see everyone.
