I enjoy living in tiny houses....my first was a cottage Victorian that was my grandparents starter home (circa 1910) that was approximately 925 sq. ft. Originally it had an outhouse, well with pump, and one large room that served as a parlor and sleeping area. The 'garage' was one in which only a carriage, or tiny Honda Civic could fit in.
When it came time to build a new house, on two lots with an existing house, the codes stated the additional house had to be a mother-in-law unit. So the house I am currently living in is 625 sq. ft. (just right for me) with a 625 sq. ft. two car garage that has never had a car/truck in it. It is being utilized as a "downstairs" to my upstairs house. My electrical/heating bills never get above $50 in the winter. I think many people could really live more cheaply and in smaller places if we didn't have so much "stuff" in our lives. I spend lots of time outside in the backyard anyway. Tiny trailers appeal to me because there is a closed in/covered place to sleep, but the great outdoors are just outside your TD.
