Ahem.
there is this book, which for about $6 including shipping, will detail the building of a myriad of small designs.
You can use these techniques to create anything from a 96 sqft mansion to a 500 sqft A-frame with a carport.

That is what I was kind of thinking. I have 4 adults living in 746 sqr ft of living space. We also have 3 dogs and a couple other animals.

And yes, we are all looking forward to two of the adults leaving. (ME!!! I am one of the two.)

They are interesting houses though, just VERY pricey.

I'd like to build a tiny house to live in, but the cities and towns around here do not allow homes to be built unless they are at least 1500 sf. They like their tax money, don't ya know. :(

Tiny Houses

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Thu Nov 13, 2008 9:26 pm

8) I enjoy living in tiny houses....my first was a cottage Victorian that was my grandparents starter home (circa 1910) that was approximately 925 sq. ft. Originally it had an outhouse, well with pump, and one large room that served as a parlor and sleeping area. The 'garage' was one in which only a carriage, or tiny Honda Civic could fit in.

When it came time to build a new house, on two lots with an existing house, the codes stated the additional house had to be a mother-in-law unit. So the house I am currently living in is 625 sq. ft. (just right for me) with a 625 sq. ft. two car garage that has never had a car/truck in it. It is being utilized as a "downstairs" to my upstairs house. My electrical/heating bills never get above $50 in the winter. I think many people could really live more cheaply and in smaller places if we didn't have so much "stuff" in our lives. I spend lots of time outside in the backyard anyway. Tiny trailers appeal to me because there is a closed in/covered place to sleep, but the great outdoors are just outside your TD.

I have a web site that has some inexpensive plans for tiny homes.
They are built with sip panels insulated structure panels
just screw the panels together and its all there is too it.
